It has also become one of the popular Instagram check-in spots. What is there to see? The surrounding area is quite dull, and it seems IG influencers' recommendations can easily lead to disappointment~

What is Guomao Community?

Located near Kaohsiung's Zuoying Naval Port, Guomao Community is also known as Bihai New Village. It was formerly Guomao Third Village, the largest naval dependents' settlement in Kaohsiung, once home to over ten thousand people. With its vast area, the aging structures were later rebuilt into apartment complexes, and many people still live there today!

In the center of these circular buildings is a small park. Shooting upward makes it look just like Hong Kong.

Most of the surrounding buildings have an arc-shaped appearance, which is truly unique. You can see this massive community from far away when arriving by vehicle.

This community forms a circular space, and the enormous buildings leave a strong impression.

Such scenery is rare, so photos taken here are especially distinctive.

Is Guomao Community Worth Including in Your Itinerary?

If you are a photography enthusiast or enjoy travel photography, you might like it.

Shooting in this space gives a sense of solemn quietness and a stuffy nostalgic feeling.

It has a strong artistic vibe but lacks a lively or cheerful atmosphere.

Therefore, if you are traveling with friends or family, it may not be highly recommended. After all, there are fewer restaurants and attractions nearby, so making a special trip might not be worth the time. Perhaps visiting once is enough.

Perhaps because of the circular layout, sound tends to echo more easily.

So being too noisy here will be very noticeable. To avoid disturbing residents, it's best to stay quiet.

Nostalgic Flag-Raising Plaza

Since it was rebuilt from an old dependents' village, the flag-raising platform has been preserved.

It is quite special, and there are even free-roaming chickens, making it a rather peculiar area.

Some outer areas are not arc-shaped.

They are also quite tall, but the windows and doors are very uniform, giving a slight sense of being imprisoned, which I personally don't like.

Plus, it is really quiet here, adding to the solemn atmosphere.

In short, Kaohsiung's Zuoying Guomao Community is probably a spot I will never visit again in my life. Maybe leave it to those who enjoy photography~
