Whale Cave Transportation Information

1. Drive / Ride a Scooter

Departing from Magong City, take County Road 203 north, pass the Penghu Cross-Sea Bridge, then follow the signs to Xiaomen Island.

Navigation suggestion: set "Zhenyi Temple" or "Xiaomen Geological Exploration Museum" parking lot, do not directly navigate to "Whale Cave" to avoid entering narrow alleys.

After parking, follow the signs and walk about 5-10 minutes to reach Whale Cave, passing through small villages and food streets along the way.

2. Public Transportation

Take a plane to Penghu Airport, or take a boat to Magong Port.

Transfer to Taiwan Good Line "Magong . North Ring Line" (reservation required) or Penghu County Bus Blue Line Wai'an Line, get off at "Xiaomen Whale Cave Station"

Xiaomen Island Whale Cave

After eating and drinking at Mr. Squid, continue along the nearby upward trail, and you can see Penghu's most representative natural landscape—Whale Cave

Whale Cave is located on the northwest coast of Xiaomen Island, a huge sea erosion cave formed by columnar basalt through long-term sea erosion

From a distance, it looks like a whale stranded on the beach, hence the name

Along the way, you will pass Xiaomen Geological Exploration Museum

I don't know if it's because we came during non-peak hours or because of the rain, it simply didn't open

They won't let people in even if you want to, annoying~

Penghu Whale Cave Introduction

Penghu must-visit attraction - Whale Cave is located in Xiaomen Island, Xiyu Township, Penghu County, one of Penghu's most representative natural landscapes

This magnificent sea erosion cave is formed by black columnar basalt eroded by waves over many years, the cave entrance looks like a huge whale opening its mouth, hence named "Whale Cave"

The cave is about 7.8 meters high, at low tide you can closely observe the tide and wave sounds inside the cave, at high tide you can appreciate the shocking scene of huge waves hitting the cave entrance

From afar, it really looks like a whale with its mouth open, this cave is a bit similar to the feeling of Elephant Trunk Rock on the north coast

It's just that Elephant Trunk Rock has broken now, but Penghu's Whale Cave still exists~

On the way to Whale Cave, the roads are full of cacti

These cacti made into smoothies are really good, sour and sweet and thirst-quenching

When we arrived at Mr. Squid it was still pouring rain, but after eating squid noodles and visiting Whale Cave, the weather instantly became quite stable

The beach near Xiaomen Island when the rain stops is really gorgeous and beautiful, allowing people to stay for a while to appreciate the harbor scenery

Penghu is so beautiful, it makes people want to come and play again and again
