Traveling from Taichung to Taipei, then transferring buses, although the journey wasn’t close, chatting along the way, sharing life stories, discussing recently watched movies, or simply gazing at the scenery outside the window made the trip very meaningful. For us, while the destination is important, the companionship along the way is even more precious. Stepping into the Linkou Sports Center, the clean and bright space, high-ceilinged courts, and comfortable wooden floors make you want to get active right away. Watching everyone pick up rackets to warm up and practice serves, every visit feels like a long-awaited little trip. Badminton looks simple, but only after actually playing do you realize it’s actually a highly technical sport. A good racket, badminton shoes, shuttlecocks, plus court rental fees—if you play regularly, it does require quite a bit of expense. That’s why some jokingly say, “Badminton is actually a sport for the wealthy.” Though exaggerated, it reflects that sustaining a sports interest requires time and financial investment. Because of this, I cherish every opportunity to step onto the court even more. What impresses me most is that love cards from many counties and cities, combined with public transportation or sports facility discounts, can reduce a lot of travel and activity expenses. For those needing rehabilitation, regular exercise, or friends with disabilities, such benefits are truly practical and allow more people to go out and develop healthy habits. Looking back now, those rackets didn’t just hit shuttlecocks—they swung through segments of youth. Some have moved away, some started working, some got busy with their own lives, and some gradually lost contact. But whenever I see a badminton court or pass by Linkou Sports Center again, I still think of those friends who sweated, laughed, and cheered together.
