The Lingering Sensation

After the touch ends,
the skin still retains the sensation.

Like an afterimage, even though the hand has left,
that part still remembers the previous temperature.

Sometimes it's a tingling pain, sometimes it's heat,
sometimes it's an indescribable numbness.

I will touch those places,
trying to hold onto that sensation.

But eventually it will fade.
