In Kaohsiung's Yancheng District, at 'Yancheng Market' and 'Dagoutou Old Street', there's 'A Mian Mochi', a popular local souvenir specialty store. They carefully select local ingredients for their chewy mochi, along with thin-skinned fruit daifuku with plenty of filling, making it a steadfast famous store in the old street. Even many tourists come by reputation, and it's highly recommended whether for gifting or as a travel souvenir!
We asked two hosts to professionally explain and deeply introduce the D&W black and white duo recommended content

A Mian Mochi originated in Zuoying in 2007. After a dramatic change at home, they started selling these mochi pieces with a simple folding table, and eventually opened a storefront in Yancheng District. They坚持 on handmade fillings and natural additives-free philosophy, step by step becoming a famous souvenir store in Dagoutou Old Street!
You can see their unique deliciousness, allowing them to overcome so many hardships and achieve today's success.
A Mian Mochi is located on Xinle Street in Kaohsiung City Yancheng District, with a small but warmly decorated storefront, full of vibrant colors and a literary vibe.
Since the store space is not large, with a small display cabinet, people have to line up to buy, so on holidays there might be queues. If you want to buy souvenirs or eat delicious A Mian Mochi, it's recommended to plan ahead or avoid peak hours.
Besides mochi, they also sell some special traditional snacks. We went just before the Lunar New Year, and they even launched flying fish roe! Really impressive
A Mian Mochi uses a lot of fresh fruits; in the freezer, you can see super large strawberries, each one fresh and juicy, really making one's mouth water
Seeing the finished product, the white and plump strawberry daifuku, it's even more appetizing
A Mian Mochi's traditional handmade mochi are classics, each one chewy with super plenty of filling
A Mian Mochi traditional handmade mochi flavors include:
Dong's favorite is their fruit daifuku! Flavors are so numerous it's unimaginable
And every flavor is so delicious! Especially the papaya milk flavor is amazingly good~ I ordered another box to send up after getting back to Taipei
A Mian Mochi handmade fruit daifuku flavors include:
Among A Mian Mochi's mochi, my favorite is the papaya milk daifuku
The paper box is really exquisite~ Great for gifting
Opening it, the mochi is white and tender, with two layers of cupcake papers below!
It's heavy and substantial~
Biting into it, there's custard wrapping a whole piece of ripe papaya!
It's really like drinking papaya milk, but with a chewy texture, and the outside is chewy and stretchy, inside is soft and dense, the papaya is tangible with a fruity aroma and super large pieces! Really fall in love after one bite, super surprising!
The matcha aroma is quite good, and it's that Japanese-style matcha custard, with a slight bitterness that's nice
Paired with large and fragrant strawberries, you can even taste the juicy texture of the strawberries!
It instantly washes away the bitterness of the matcha, turning it into a very refreshing taste
A Mian Mochi in Kaohsiung's Yancheng District is probably the strongest mochi I've ever eaten, with rich flavors and real ingredients without excessive additives. It's very easy to eat, and even as a Kaohsiung souvenir, it's generous and elegant. It's a must-visit old store when traveling in Kaohsiung! Highly recommend Kaohsiung old store A Mian Mochi!
