Xiamen Fuzhou six-day five-night trip, upon arriving in Xiamen the first stop is of course to head straight to the most lively 'Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street' to find authentic flavors!
As food enthusiasts, our first meal after getting off the plane is decided to be dedicated to the legendary old establishment 'Lianhuan Oyster Omelette'.
This shop is hidden in a narrow alley, and to find it really requires a bit of treasure-hunting spirit. But that Minnan flavor that has been fragrant for over forty years is absolutely worth specially going into the alley to search for!
Lianhuan Oyster Omelette is located in 'Ju Kou Horizontal Alley' within the Zhongshan Road business district. After walking into Ju Kou Horizontal Alley, you will find the alley narrow, full of old Xiamen flavor.
Here's a key point: in front of Lianhuan, there's another shop selling oyster omelette; if you don't look carefully at the sign, it's easy to go to the wrong one! Remember to look for the white sign that says 'Lianhuan Oyster Omelette'!

Overall, it's a very typical local snack shop, not very spacious, with indoor and outdoor dining areas, not many seats, but the table turnover rate is quite fast.
The entrance is the cooking area, watching the owner skillfully flip on the well-worn frying pan, the aroma constantly wafting, really making one's mouth water.
The wall has a clear menu posted; the things sold here are very simple, yet every one is classic:
Oyster Omelette, Satay Noodles

Others: Barbecued Meat Zongzi, Salty Rice, Spring Rolls, etc.

Oyster Omelette
Xiamen's oyster omelette differs slightly in texture from Taiwan's oyster omelette; here, the oysters are not particularly huge, but very fresh and sweet with a generous quantity! It's really eating oysters, not like in Taiwan where it's mostly the batter.
In terms of texture, the batter and eggs are fried slightly crispy and aromatic, with a bit of chewy resilience, inside added a lot of green garlic to enhance the aroma; the most essential part is the sour and spicy sauce on the side of the plate, dipping a bit makes it completely elevate the seafood flavor, very satisfying to eat!
Sea Clams + Fish Soup
This bowl of soup gave us a big surprise! And only 10 RMB, with plenty of ingredients.
The soup looks clear, but tastes extremely fresh and delicious; the fish paste has a solid yet tender texture; the most impressive is the sea clams inside, plump and very cleanly prepared, biting into it full of fresh and sweet seafood flavor.
After finishing the hot oyster omelette, having this bowl of clear and sweet soup perfectly balances the taste buds.
'Lianhuan Oyster Omelette' feels like a small shop run by the neighborhood grandma; no fancy decor, but solid skills; although the dining environment is quite simple, this experience of sitting in the shop or on the alley's small stools, enjoying food with a breeze, is the most charming part of independent travel.
If you also like this kind of old shop full of human touch and street vibes, when you come to Zhongshan Road, don't forget to duck into Ju Kou Horizontal Alley to find that 40-year inherited seafood happiness!
