Everyone sees Mao Zai’s videos being filmed so openly and played so happily, as if really enjoying it. In reality, there’s a lot of helplessness behind it that only I know.
Filming a video takes a lot of time to prepare, do makeup, find locations, adjust lighting, and try angles…… After filming, I still have to edit, color grade, and add subtitles. Sometimes for just a short video, I spend the whole day and night thinking about how to make it good enough to repay the Mao Baos who have always supported Mao Zai wholeheartedly.
My body is exhausted, and I also have to constantly worry about privacy, afraid of being recognized, afraid of family and friends seeing it, afraid of being doxxed. Every time after filming, I ask myself: Is it still worth continuing?
The most heartbreaking thing is that after working so hard to film the videos, within a few days they get leaked to Telegram groups and forums, letting everyone watch them for free. Seeing my hard work being casually shared and downloaded, I really feel so disappointed and heartbroken.
It’s not that I don’t want everyone to watch, but I really hope everyone understands: if everyone only watches leaked versions and doesn’t respect the original, I will soon lose the motivation to keep filming. Because when I feel my efforts aren’t being cherished, continuing to film will only make me feel more and more empty.
