B Spa and Lounge, Hanoi

Inside a Gay Sauna That Feels Like a Ruin

A peony mural, purple-red seating and glass cabinets displaying liquor bottles—alongside peeling walls and rusting lockers. At B Spa and Lounge in Hanoi, the visual impact starts on the ground floor.

Upstairs is another experience altogether. This visit report covers the facilities, conditions, crowd and atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, to help you decide whether this gay sauna is for you.

▍Who Is This Place For?

If cleanliness is a priority, this place is a definite no-go. You might pay the entrance fee, take one look inside and immediately want to leave. But if you want to see something out of the ordinary, it is worth a look—even for just ten minutes.

▍Admission

Entry was VND 70,000, including a small bottle of water, a locker key and a large towel.

▍The Space and Facilities

The ground floor has lockers, showers, a spa pool and a lounge area. A peony-and-bird mural, purple-red seating and glass liquor cabinets lend it a faded, old-fashioned glamour. Right beside them are peeling walls, rusting metal lockers, worn wooden benches and dirty footprints across the tiles. The whole place feels stuck in another era, slowly ageing ever since.

Vietnamese dance music plays from a battered DJ booth. There is no air conditioning, just a few old fans. The showers are worn, and the spa pool is so dimly lit that anyone willing to get in deserves points for bravery.

The two upper floors have lockable private rooms and darkrooms, with a steam room and a dry sauna on the top floor. There is no air conditioning upstairs either. The surroundings were dirty and cluttered, with an unpleasant smell; daylight only made everything more visible. The layout, however, was reasonably straightforward and did not get in the way of using the rooms and darkrooms.

▍The Crowd and Atmosphere

During a Sunday afternoon visit in September 2026, there were around 30 guests, mostly middle-aged and older men who appeared to be local. Builds ranged from average to heavier, with only one or two visibly muscular men.

Some sat chatting or rested downstairs scrolling on their phones. Others cruised around or spent time together in the private rooms. The most memorable sight was two middle-aged men chatting on a battered sofa upstairs, facing a terrace overgrown with greenery. In a place that looked like a ruin, people were perfectly at ease. That contrast was striking.

▍Is It Worth Visiting?

For some, the decay, worn surroundings and unpleasant smell will be a deal-breaker. For others, that raw setting may be part of the appeal, giving encounters something of an outdoor-cruising feel. Those who enjoy it may really enjoy it.

If you are curious, take a brief look. If you want somewhere clean and comfortable, give it a miss.
