For many local residents, this place is not just an ice cream shop but a flavor landmark carrying childhood memories and local sentiments. Even without luxurious decor, Zhengdian Milk King's simple style, combined with its consistent old-fashioned flavors over decades, makes it a must-visit spot for countless visitors to Zhongxing New Village.
Zhengdian Milk King's menu is most famous for its "sandwich ice bricks," with flavors including classic milk, rich peanut, intense chocolate, coffee, and longan with its special aroma. For those wanting to buy in bulk, the shop offers boxing services—small boxes contain 16 pieces, large boxes 22—but to allow more people to enjoy them, the store limits purchases to two boxes per person.
In addition to the signature sandwich ice bricks, Zhengdian Milk King's drink options include mung bean paste milk, peanut milk, and papaya milk.
The shop also sells two types of traditional slush ice: ume slush and passion fruit slush. Customers can buy a cup of slush alone or choose a richer combination pairing slush with ice cream.
Zhengdian Milk King's slush-ice cream pairings offer various possibilities based on personal preference. That day, I tried the ume slush with longan ice cream combination and found the flavors matched quite well, delivering a nice taste experience—especially the longan ice cream, which tasted very substantial, with solid longan fruit pieces adding depth. In comparison, the passion fruit slush with chocolate ice cream combo seemed more ordinary, with less harmonious flavor coordination than the previous one.
Zhengdian Milk King's "sandwich ice bricks" are made with soda crackers as the outer layer, filled with rich ice cream. Tasting it on the spot, I found the ice cream texture quite hard, so it's recommended to wait a bit for the ice cream to reach a better eating consistency.
The "peanut sandwich ice brick" melts in the mouth with an extremely rich peanut ice cream flavor, emitting an enticing nutty aroma. That pure and dominant scent is truly irresistible. The outer soda cracker retains its crisp texture, creating an interesting contrast with the ice cream and adding chewing enjoyment while preventing the ice cream from becoming too heavy at the end. Additionally, a small piece of raisin seems embedded in the ice cream edge, adding a touch of dried fruit sweetness and chewiness to the whole.
The "milk ice cream" is characterized by a light sweetness upon entry; the milky aroma doesn't appear immediately but is gently released as the ice cream slowly melts in the mouth, delivering a pure and comfortable taste. After sampling several ice cream flavors offered by Zhengdian Milk King, peanut and longan are undoubtedly the most standout and recommended choices, their unique flavors deeply captivating the taste buds.
