“Hi, is Andy home?”
That morning, both my roommates had gone out, and I was alone at home reading a book when Kenji suddenly appeared at the door. Kenji is Andy’s friend, a handsome Japanese-American guy. Andy is a straight guy who brings girls home to stay over every now and then, but my gut told me Kenji wasn’t so straight—especially from the way he kept stealing glances at my bare chest.

“So how’s your freshman year going so far? Joined any clubs or fraternities?”
“I’m in the xx fraternity. It’s a pre-med professional fraternity.” Besides mainstream fraternities, there are many themed ones—Black, Asian-Pacific, etc. Kenji’s is one of them, mainly for undergrads aiming for med school. Looks like Kenji plans to study medicine.
“Is your fraternity like Nathan’s? They throw mixers all the time and never lack girls to sleep with.” Nathan had run into Kenji a few times when coming over to fuck, so they knew each other.
“Ours is different. Pre-med guys spend all day in the library, haha.” Pre-med refers to undergrads in majors like Kenji’s, preparing for med school.
“Sounds boring, haha. Do you have a girlfriend? Or boyfriend?” I deliberately winked when saying “boyfriend” and smirked at him.
“No. My family is really strict—they wouldn’t let me date in high school, saying girls would distract me. They wanted me to focus on studying and playing music to get scholarships.” He casually dodged the question, confirming he wasn’t entirely straight. But I needed to be more direct.
