When it comes to exploring the suburbs of Taipei, Shenkeng Old Street is definitely one of my top pocket list choices!
In addition to the antique red brick buildings, the most attractive thing is of course all kinds of tofu dishes!
Every time I want to eat stinky tofu, or suddenly miss that string of fragrant Qilixiang, I can't help but head to Shenkeng.
This time, I want to share with everyone the "Tofu Niang Tofu Shop" on the old street. We ordered the Tofu Five Ways including poached free-range chicken for only 680 NTD!
Transportation to Shenkeng Old Street:
• By car: Set navigation directly to "Shenkeng Old Street". It is recommended to park at the "Shenkeng Public Multi-Story Parking Lot" at the entrance of the old street or nearby private paid parking lots, both are very close to walk over.
• By bus: Take bus 660, 912, 666 or 795 (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Muzha-Pingxi Line) from downtown Taipei and get off at "Shenkeng Station". It takes about 3-5 minutes to walk to the entrance of the old street.
Approaching Tofu Niang, the first thing that catches the eye is the row of red lanterns at the door, full of traditional old street atmosphere.
Both sides of the entrance are covered with photo menus, from stinky tofu, tofu soup to various stir-fries, just looking at the photos makes you hungry.

There are many ways to order here, you can order à la carte, but I personally strongly recommend their "Signature Combo Meals"!
Like the "Tofu Five Ways" we ordered this time for only $680 NTD, which includes:
1. Fried Stinky Tofu
2. Tofu Soup
3. Guizhu Bamboo Shoots
4. Intestine & Blood Stinky Tofu
5. Poached Free-Range Chicken
This portion is enough for 3-4 people, averaging just over a hundred NTD per person. This price is really generous in a tourist area!
Fried Stinky Tofu
The outside is fried crispy, but the inside still retains a moist texture.
The moment you bite into it, the aroma bursts out, but it's not overly pungent. Paired with kimchi, the sweet and sour taste cuts the greasiness, very addictive.
Tofu Soup
The broth has a slightly thickened smooth texture, with plenty of ingredients inside, including tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, etc. The overall flavor is mild and smooth, with a nostalgic old-school taste.
Intestine & Blood Stinky Tofu
This pot is a rice killer! The stinky tofu has absorbed the spicy soup base, paired with soft Q large intestine and tender duck blood, served steaming hot. Although a bit spicy, it's extremely satisfying.
Guizhu Bamboo Shoots
The refreshing role to cut the greasiness. The bamboo shoots have a crisp and tender texture, simply seasoned and very delicious, perfectly balancing the previous heavy-flavored dishes.
Poached Free-Range Chicken
The chicken meat is firm and not dry, with a bit of Q texture. Just dipping in soy sauce is flavorful enough. For the combo price, this dish really adds value.
Bonus: If you haven't tried "Guava Jiao Qilixiang", don't say you've been to Shenkeng Old Street!
This stall is no joke, there's always a queue every time I come. Look at that row of neat, plump chicken butts on the grill, roasted until the skin is charred, crispy and fragrant, with fat aroma bursting out.
Biting into it, there's no fishy smell at all, crispy outside and tender inside, sprinkled with pepper and chili powder, super addictive. It's truly the best walking food on the old street!
Tofu Niang Tofu Shop is one of the options on Shenkeng Old Street that offers reasonable prices and a variety of tofu dishes in one go.
If it's your first time in Shenkeng and you're unsure what to order, choosing the combo meal is actually very convenient.
After eating the hot stinky tofu, go queue for Qilixiang and stroll the old street slowly. This kind of simple little trip is really healing.
Next time you're craving stinky tofu, no need to go far, just head to Shenkeng.
