Chapter Four: Unworthy and Fallen
1、Ambiguity
「All units attention, third scene, Action!」
At the director’s command, the set’s clamor instantly faded. Inside the crew-built luxury mansion living room, an extremely ambiguous, almost cold moonlight shone.
The sun had fully entered character; she was Shen Rui’an.
Shen Rui’an stood awkwardly in the center of the living room, still draped in Jiang Yuhe’s suit jacket carrying the scent of ebony. This was her first time in such a lavish place; the mansion was so huge it made her panic.
Jiang Yuhe slowly loosened his tie, turned to look at her startled-fawn-like appearance. Unlike other men who rushed to take her to bed, he simply poured a glass of warm water and handed it to her, his fingers brushing hers incidentally.
In that instant, their breaths tangled thickly in midair. Shen Rui’an gazed at his shockingly handsome face; her cheeks uncontrollably burned, and she lowered her head in panic.
「Sleep early. Your room is next door.」 Jiang Yuhe said flatly, then turned toward the study.
That night, he did not touch her. That night, there was no violent lust, only the madly fermenting ambiguity and heartbeats in the air. Shen Rui’an lay on the soft bed, listening to the occasional steady footsteps outside the door, her heart in turmoil.
The next afternoon, Shen Rui’an returned to the hotel for work. She thought last night’s tenderness was just a dream, but as she sat in the private room drinking with other guests, the door was pushed open again, and the supervisor’s high-pitched voice rang out: 「Rui’an, Mr. Jiang wants you to switch tables!」
Under the other girls’ jealous, almost flaming glares, Shen Rui’an dazedly entered Jiang Yuhe’s exclusive private room. He remained lofty as ever, said nothing, threw down a huge sum to book her for the whole night, took her hand and led her out of that smoky, filthy place.
He first took her to eat high-end cuisine, watching her gradually lower her guard and show a genuine smile, then brought her back to that top-floor mansion again.
By the private pool on the rooftop balcony, the night breeze was cool. Jiang Yuhe opened an expensive bottle of red wine; the dark red liquid refracted an alluring glow in the crystal glass. He swirled the glass, his deep black eyes locked onto Shen Rui’an, and asked in a low voice:
「Want a drink?」
2、Only if you’re willing will I touch you
Shen Rui’an looked at him and nodded as if possessed.
The cold, mellow red wine slid down her throat. After several glasses, the alcohol’s effects began to rise. Shen Rui’an’s cheeks flushed as if about to drip water, her eyes misty with confusion.
She looked at the man who had pulled her out of hell for two consecutive days, her gaze dazed and alluring, carrying an attachment even she hadn’t noticed.
Jiang Yuhe also watched her, those black eyes like bottomless whirlpools, never shifting away for a second.
He slowly set down his glass, his tall frame leaning closer. Just as Shen Rui’an thought he would act like those rough guests, Jiang Yuhe merely brushed the stray hair by her ear with his slender fingers, his voice low and sexy, carrying undeniable dominance and respect:
「Only if you’re willing will I touch you.」
