Do you think on-chain transactions are fast enough now? No, future blockchains will make transactions even faster. Because they are not meant for "humans" at all, but for "AI"!
According to the latest data, BNB Chain is developing the fourth network in its ecosystem. This is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for AI agents, with a testnet expected by the end of 2026 and mainnet launch in 2027.
This plan reveals the shift in Web3's core competitiveness and a fundamental disruption at the technical infrastructure level.
Traditionally, latency-sensitive operations such as high-frequency trading, clearing, and real-time arbitrage could almost only be completed within centralized exchanges (CEX), because traditional blockchain block confirmation times and mempool mechanisms could not meet millisecond-level response requirements.
The new chain launched by BNB Chain this time aims to achieve throughput exceeding 100,000+ TPS and compress transaction pre-confirmations time to within 50 milliseconds. To achieve CEX-level speed while maintaining asset self-custody, this network has made two key modifications at the underlying architecture:
1. Eliminating the public mempool (using TxStream technology): The new chain will phase out the mempool mechanism where unconfirmed transactions queue publicly, instead using TxStream to push transaction requests directly to the next block's validators. This change not only significantly reduces data transmission latency but also fundamentally eliminates a long-standing blockchain pain point—sandwich attacks and malicious front-running that exploit time differences.
2. Hard capacity reservation (PriorityLane technology): The network reserves fixed space in each block for critical operations (such as oracle price updates, cross-chain transfers, and clearing instructions), ensuring that core financial activities do not stall during market volatility or high concurrent congestion.
Key Insight: Web3 Is Paving the Way for Non-Human Users
From the earlier "BNB Agent Studio" that allowed users to build AI agents through natural language, to now directly opening a hardware runway, BNB Chain's strategic intent is clear: in the future on-chain economy, the main users will no longer be humans, but AI agents that run continuously, autonomously manage capital, and execute complex financial decisions.
This brings two core implications to the entire industry:
1. Reshuffling of the MEV ecosystem: When mempool is replaced by TxStream, the profit chain of bots and validators that previously relied on on-chain transaction transparency will face collapse. This provides significant protection for AI strategies that expect deterministic execution results, but it will also change the validator economic model of public chains.
2. Dimension upgrade in the public chain race: While most Layer 1 and Layer 2 chains are still attracting retail users through airdrops and wealth effects, the next stage of public chain competition has evolved into "who can provide the most suitable low-latency, high-predictability soil for AI operations."
As infrastructure gradually comes online in 2027, if this new chain successfully delivers on its performance promises, it could break CEX's long-standing monopoly on ultra-fast trading and truly give DeFi the hard power to compete with traditional top-tier financial systems.
