Recently I finally finished binge-watching Netflix's 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》.
After watching, what I thought about the most was surprisingly not romance, but my little brother.
When my brother was in college, during New Year he once proudly showed off to relatives:
"I have to show off one thing—my sister bought Netflix for me!"😂
Looking back now, this sentence actually makes me feel a bit heartbroken.
When we were kids, my younger siblings really seemed to believe in me as their big sister.
Whenever I said I would achieve something, buy something, or take them to do something, they would believe it. But after growing up, I realized life isn't as simple as we thought as children.
There were things I didn't accomplish, jobs I didn't continue, and my health made my life take many detours. Later Netflix became something Mom paid for, Dad thought it was a waste, and eventually no one subscribed anymore.
I always felt like I had disappointed my younger siblings many times.
But they never really held it against me.
Maybe the person I couldn't get over was always myself.
So this time, because of a collaboration, I had the chance to watch Netflix again, and the first thing that came to mind was my brother's once-proud words.
Well, at least big sister can watch again now🤣
As for 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》——
The first few episodes really made me laugh non-stop, especially when Lee Soo-hyuk appeared, my mind was only thinking:
"Who are the other guys?"🤣🤣🤣
After that, the plot... um... I started silently fast-forwarding.
From episode 5 all the way to episode 10.😂
By the end, I understood what it was trying to say.
The ideal type, the dreamy type, the man with perfect conditions—seems to have everything, but in the end, the one who stays might still be an ordinary, honest, even somewhat plain person.
It's a kind of "ordinary love, ordinary romance."
Is it romantic?
I admit, it's very romantic.
But I'm also very sure——
This is no longer the life I most want to pursue now.
When I was younger, I also thought love should be grand and passionate.
Later I realized some grand endings are called losing both the person and the money.😂
So now it's not that I'm afraid of love, nor that I "can't find love."
But after going through some things, I really started rethinking:
Does life have to be proven through love?
I thought of the Buddhist saying "The mundane world is also a place of practice."
Family is a place of practice, friendship is a place of practice, love is a place of practice, work is a place of practice; even our attachments to success, appearance, money, winning and losing, and "I must become someone" might all be our own lessons.
So after watching 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, my biggest takeaway wasn't "I really want to fall in love."
But rather:
It turns out the ordinary can also be very romantic, it's just that the kind of life I'm looking for now might be something else.
Of course, I still have to mention my BLACKPINK!🖤💗
I think JISOO's acting is really good, and the more I watch, the more I feel BLACKPINK's four girls are really amazing.
Singing, dancing, stage presence, fashion, endorsements, drama—they've been moving toward the international stage all along.
What we see is them shining now, but behind it is years of training during trainee days and after debut.
So sometimes I feel envious and can't help comparing myself to them.
But later I thought, there's really no need.
They have their lives, and I have my own lessons.
I didn't become the "big sister who can do anything" that my younger siblings imagined when they were little—this I do regret.
But the story of life isn't over yet.
The promises I made in the past don't all have to be fulfilled.
At least from now on, promise less and actually do more.
Maybe one day, my brother won't need to show off:
"My sister bought Netflix for me."
But can casually say:
"My sister is doing pretty well now."
For me, that might be enough.❤️
I still recommend 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》!
The beginning is hilarious, the middle made me want to fast-forward a lot, and in the end I was somehow moved by the romance.🤣
Next up—Lisa's 《The White Lotus》!
BLINK keep chasing.🖤💗

My brother once said something I still remember to this day.
When he was in college, during New Year while chatting with relatives, he happily said: "I have to show off one thing—my sister bought Netflix for me!"
Unexpectedly later, because I didn't continue as a beautician, the Netflix fee became something Mom helped pay for, Dad thought the expense was a bit wasteful, and eventually the family stopped subscribing.
Actually from childhood to now, I've always felt I've disappointed my younger siblings many times, but they never really held it against me.
They also know that sometimes I'm good at "making big promises," saying many things I want to accomplish. But when they were little they truly believed, always thinking big sister could definitely do it.
Because of this, I've always carried some guilt and self-blame.
My health has never been great, and my temper and personality also have many areas needing adjustment, so I often feel I haven't become a good role model as the big sister.
Recently, because of a collaboration opportunity, I could watch Netflix through the sharing feature, so I finally watched BLACKPINK JISOO's 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, which I'd been looking forward to.
The first three episodes I really thought were great!
But after episode 4, the plot seemed to start going off track a bit (laughs).
As for who the other male leads in the story are, I don't have much impression. Maybe because I watched on computer and didn't check actor info on my phone, so after finishing, some roles still felt a bit vague.
All in all, I think the male lead the story really wants to present is actually a very honest, sincere, and ordinary person.
But I think many viewers probably focused on the "ideal man" Lee Soo-hyuk?
At least while watching I was really focused on him the whole time (laughs).
And right around the time this Netflix series aired, I had shared and revealed some past experiences in some relationship-related Facebook groups.
Unexpectedly, when I later shared about one of the male supporting characters in 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, his styling happened to resemble someone I had revealed about before.
So at the time I was actually worried others might misunderstand.
Some even said I "can't find love," which felt a bit baffling.
Actually from childhood to now I've always felt I haven't done anything particularly impressive.
Maybe like Seo Mirae played by JISOO in 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, I also have my own ordinary side.
Of course, in reality JISOO is an international superstar, so there's no way to compare.
BLACKPINK reaching today isn't just because of their good looks.
They can sing, dance, perform, and also engage in drama, hosting, fashion, and brand endorsements. Besides their natural conditions, there's also very long periods of training and effort behind them.
So I also thought of the saying: "Everyone is born with talent that will be useful."
But when it comes to my family, I still feel some guilt toward my brother.
As for my sister, she's now more focused on Buddhism, so I'm more at ease.
Recently I finally finished watching 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》.
To be honest, I pretty much fast-forwarded from episode 5 onward, and ended up watching straight to episode 10.
After watching, I still think the male lead is really too ordinary! (laughs)
Instead, when Lee Soo-hyuk appeared in episodes 1 and 2, I really found it hilarious and memorable.
But by the last episode, I suddenly felt this ending was actually quite romantic.
In the end, it's a kind of "ordinary."
Ordinary love, ordinary romance.
I also want to say clearly first that I didn't suddenly want to fall in love after watching this drama.
It's just that after watching, I had a feeling of "How could it be like this?"—a bit strange, a bit unexpected.
Also, that device in the drama you can wear on your eyes to enter a virtual game world—I couldn't remember what it was called at first.
It should be something like a VR headset!
If real life really had the kind of device in 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, where wearing it lets you enter that virtual world, I think it would feel pretty interesting too.
All in all, 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》 overall is actually pretty good to watch, just some parts in the middle really made me want to scream (laughs).
But I still love my BLACKPINK very much!
BLINK, BLINK, BLINK!🖤💗
Although JISOO isn't the member I usually pay the most attention to, many people say she's very beautiful, and after watching 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, I also think her acting is really quite good.
As for the feeling this drama left me with in the end, it's:
"Romantic ordinary, and ordinary romance."
But I'm also very sure this isn't the life I want to pursue now.
When I was younger, I also had grand and passionate romances, but in the end might have nothing left, or even lost both the person and the money.
So now I'm not afraid of falling in love, but after seeing and experiencing some things, I'm not as yearning for these plots as before.
Instead, I thought of a phrase sometimes seen in Buddhist halls:
"The mundane world is a place of practice, the mundane world is also a place of practice."
My understanding is that the mundane world isn't just love.
Family, friendship, love, work, self, and all kinds of attachments in our hearts are actually lessons life requires us to learn.
So these are some of my takeaways after watching 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》.
Overall, I would still recommend everyone to watch it.
JISOO's acting also made me feel it's quite good!
And my next drama-watching target is Lisa's 《The White Lotus》.
I'm also curious if Lisa's movie has already been released?
Oh my god!
I really feel the development of BLACKPINK's four girls now is too amazing.
They're no longer just Korean idols, but step by step moving onto the international stage.
From trainee days, to official debut, then accumulating so many years of experience, reaching today really wasn't easy.
Although I only truly started liking BLACKPINK after they began developing their individual careers, I still admire them very much.
I also know there's no need to compare my life with theirs.
They have their talents and have put in a lot of effort afterward.
Like when Lisa talked about her training journey in the past, it also made me feel that when someone looks so dazzling on stage, they must have gone through a huge amount of practice behind the scenes.
So success really isn't that easy.
For myself, my health condition does affect my life, but I also hope I won't completely give up on trying because of it.
Everyone has different conditions and different life paths. What I can do is keep moving forward within my own capabilities.
All in all——
Recommend 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》 to everyone!
Although while watching I wanted to laugh and fast-forward at the same time, and some parts even made me want to scream, I still finished it in the end.
Ordinary love, ordinary romance.
Maybe not the life I want, but still a story worth watching and that made me think about many things.
Netflix's 《SubscriptionBoyfriend》, recommended to everyone.🖤💗
