Chiayi has tons of turkey rice shops

民主火雞肉飯 is also a popular famous shop; last time when passing by, there was a long queue

This time passing by during non-meal hours, no queue, so let's try it

Quite surprising that this turkey rice shop even has its own parking lot, 

located in the alley to the left of the shop; although the parking space is small, it's already pretty good in the city area

If dining in, you can first grab an order form from the table to fill out

Since you have to queue anyway, ordering first can also save time

Outside the shop, red ropes are used to mark the entrance and exit for the dining area to avoid congestion

For takeout, queue in another line and order directly from the open kitchen

To the left of the shop entrance is the open kitchen, and to the right is the indoor dining area

The dining area is small, but very clean and tidy; staff clean up right after customers leave,

with fans and air conditioning, so it's not stuffy

The somewhat out-of-place decor includes award posters and TV station interview photos

There's also a huge menu on the wall, 

This shop's specialty is the wide variety of side dishes, with cold dishes and cooked items to choose from

The key point is... every item is affordable, so you might accidentally order too many~~

The new menu is also posted on the wall

When ordering here, just fill out the form and hand it to the staff

One thing to note is.... if you want a soft-boiled egg with your poached egg, mention it first~~

Otherwise, the shop serves it randomly

1. Braised Meatballs: NT$10

Braised meatballs are a common side dish in southern Taiwan 

They also offer it here, braised in sauce, with a saltier, aromatic flavor

2. Braised Pig Ears: NT$40

The braised pig ears are decent, but the portion is a bit small, 

Since it's a braised dish, it's been heated, 

3. Poached Egg: NT$15

Wanted a soft-boiled egg, but forgot to mention it, 

The poached egg that came was almost fully cooked.... crying~~~

The poached egg comes with a bit of sweet soy sauce. Can be eaten directly or paired with chicken rice

4. Century Egg Tofu: NT$45

Century egg tofu is a must-have side dish in Chiayi

This shop has it too, using firm tofu paired with sweet soy sauce and a bit of minced garlic for flavor

I've always liked this side dish because it's refreshing and perfect for the south

5. Asparagus: NT$40

A small plate of asparagus, following Chiayi's cold dish style, paired with mayonnaise

Very refreshing and goes well with turkey rice

6. Pig Blood Soup: NT$30

The pig blood soup comes in a generous portion, with soft and Q texture

The pork bone broth is clear, but with some fried shallots, the aroma is greatly enhanced

6. Turkey Rice: NT$40 (small)/ NT$45(large)

Their turkey rice is really good, 

The rice grains are distinct and not sticky,

The turkey meat on top is plentiful and very tender,

Paired with turkey broth and fried shallots, it's super fragrant

Also comes with a piece of salty-sweet radish to change up the flavor

The large bowl/small bowl only differs by 5 yuan, but the portion looks much bigger

Recommend going straight for the large bowl~~

Chiayi has so many turkey rice shops 

Each has its fans, I recommend trying a few different ones,
