Kaohsiung Old Shop | A Mian Mochi

A Mian Mochi, which started in Zuoying in 2007, began selling mochi from a simple folding table after a major family change. It later opened a storefront in Yancheng District, upholding the philosophy of handmade fillings and natural, additive-free ingredients. Step by step, it has become a famous souvenir shop on Dagou Ding Old Street!

Its unique deliciousness allowed it to overcome so many hardships and achieve today's success.

A Mian Mochi | Store Interior

A Mian Mochi is located on Xinle Street in Kaohsiung's Yancheng District. The small shop has a warm decor with colorful, literary vibes.

Due to the limited space inside, customers must line up in front of the small display counter to make purchases. During holidays, long queues may form. If you want to buy souvenirs or enjoy delicious A Mian Mochi, we recommend planning your time in advance or avoiding peak hours.

In addition to mochi, they also sell some special traditional Taiwanese snacks. When we visited near the Lunar New Year, they even offered mullet roe! Truly impressive.

A Mian Mochi uses plenty of fresh fruit. In the freezer, you can see huge strawberries, each one fresh and juicy, making your mouth water.

Seeing the finished white and plump strawberry daifuku is even more appetizing.

Must-Try! Papaya Milk Daifuku

Among A Mian Mochi's mochi, my favorite is the Papaya Milk Daifuku.

The paper box is really exquisite—perfect for gifting too.

Opening it reveals the soft, white mochi, placed on two layers of cupcake liners!

It feels substantial and satisfying.

Biting in, you find custard wrapped around a whole piece of ripe papaya!

It really tastes like drinking papaya milk, but with a chewy texture. The outside is soft and stretchy, while the inside is dense and smooth. You can taste the real papaya with a fruity aroma, and the pieces are huge! One bite and you're hooked—truly amazing!

Strawberry Matcha Daifuku

The matcha aroma is excellent, and it's Japanese-style matcha custard with a slight bitterness that's very nice.

Paired with large, aromatic strawberries, you can even taste the strawberry's juicy texture!

It instantly balances the matcha's bitterness, creating a very refreshing taste.

A Mian Mochi in Kaohsiung's Yancheng District is probably one of the best mochi I've ever had. Besides the rich variety of flavors, you can taste real ingredients with no excessive additives. It feels light and enjoyable, and even as a Kaohsiung souvenir, it's generous and impressive. It should definitely be on your itinerary when visiting Kaohsiung! Highly recommend the old shop A Mian Mochi!
