The name "Sanchong Bridge Snack Shop" is really easy to misunderstand. When I first heard it, I thought it was in Sanchong, but it turned out to be in Jinshan.
This shop is a hidden gem we discovered by chance. Its appearance is so low-key that you would never think they serve food when driving by, but once you try it, it’s the kind of place you quietly remember.
Sanchong Bridge Snack Shop is about an 8-minute drive from Jinshan Old Street. Driving along Yangjin Highway, it looks like an ordinary house. The sign is tucked away inside, so if you’re not specifically looking for it, it’s very easy to miss.

It has a typical rural old-house style with a sense of age. No fancy decor, limited seating, and simple space. If you want to dine here on weekends, it’s safer to call ahead for a reservation.
In the back, you can see the chickens they raise themselves, and there are also live fish beside them—truly farm-to-table.
There are even cats wandering freely inside the shop. The overall atmosphere is very “local.” If you care a lot about dining environment, cleanliness, or decor, this place may not suit you. But if you care about the food itself, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Sanchong Bridge Snack Shop mainly serves stir-fried dishes and home-style cooking, focusing on chicken and live fish. Rice is ordered separately at NT$10 per bowl.
There were two adults and one child that day. We hesitated between chicken and fish but finally chose the fish.
Braised Live Fish $520
You can choose tilapia or sea bass. We picked tilapia. The portion was surprisingly large when it arrived—a huge fish!
Because it was freshly prepared, the fish meat was extremely tender with no muddy taste. The braised sauce was perfectly balanced in saltiness and sweetness, soaking into the thick flesh. Topped with green onions and other ingredients, this dish alone kept us happily eating.
Chives $130
The stir-fried chives tasted sweet with a nice wok aroma—simple yet not boring, perfectly balancing the rich flavor of the fish.
Stir-Fried Offal $180
The offal was unexpectedly delicious—cleaned well with no fishy smell. Stir-fried quickly with celery over high heat, it had a nice Q texture and was full of aroma. Paired with rice, you could easily keep eating bite after bite.
Overall, every dish had a distinct wok aroma—the kind of traditional home-style stir-fry flavor you rarely find in the city.
Sanchong Bridge Snack Shop is a very low-key place—so low-key that you might never find it without someone bringing you. But because of that, it gives you the feeling of “finding treasure.”
If you’re visiting Jinshan and want more than just the old street, but also a local, flavorful spot, this is a great choice!
