In Hong Kong, many restaurants are hidden inside commercial buildings
This 古琴雅苑 was recommended by local Hong Kongers and is one of the top 10 must-eat restaurants in Tsim Sha Tsui
The location is great because it's right in the shopping district center, yet hidden upstairs in Prince Group Centre
Take the elevator to the 15th floor, and the restaurant is right there—the entire floor belongs to this restaurant
The interior decor is clean and elegant, mostly round tables, with private 4-person seating by the windows
The menu offers many dishes, a mix of Hong Kong and Beijing cuisine
For Hong Kong restaurants nowadays, the price point is quite reasonable
In addition to à la carte dishes, they also offer set menus,
Set menus are slightly cheaper and include dessert
Takeout meal vouchers are even more affordable
1. Honey Glazed Roasted Pork Belly: HKD$238
This honey-glazed roasted pork belly is essentially honey-glazed ham~~~
The ham is thick Jinhua ham,
What's special is the addition of lotus seeds during steaming, giving it a unique fragrance
They even pair it with gua bao, making it softer and more satisfying
2. Italian Black Vinegar Ribs: HKD$159
This dish leans more toward Hong Kong-style cuisine, with a strong vinegar aroma that whets the appetite
It also makes the ribs very tender, allowing the meat to separate from the bone with a gentle pull,
3. Clay Pot Salted Pork with Bamboo Shoots Soup: HKD$198
This soup is more like Shanghai cuisine, but because it's labor-intensive, if the restaurant offers it, it's worth trying
Theirs is decent, the broth is rich yet not greasy, very refreshing,
The salty aroma of Jinhua ham pairs well with the sweetness of bamboo shoots, making it delicious
4. Guqin Wine Lees Roasted Peking Duck (Half): HKD$248
Roast duck is also one of their signature dishes; seeing wine-aroma roast duck for the first time, I had to try it
The restaurant serves a small plate of crispy skin along with the duck, so those who love crispy skin can enjoy it on its own
However, since it's not hot enough, eating the crispy skin alone can feel a bit greasy
The wine-aroma duck skin is more fragrant and crisp,
This restaurant provides green onion segments / cucumber strips / cantaloupe to enjoy with the duck sauce
Wrapping the crispy duck meat and these sides in ultra-thin pancakes is surprisingly refreshing and delicious
First time discovering that pairing with cantaloupe also works well, adding sweetness
5. Nanxiang Xiaolongbao: HKD$85
The xiaolongbao has reasonably thin skin and plenty of soup,
But compared to Taiwanese xiaolongbao, Taiwanese ones are still better~~
6. Abalone and Chicken Hot Pot: HKD$398
Abalone is a common ingredient in Hong Kong-style stir-fries, so when in Hong Kong, it's worth trying the local preparation
The chef here stir-fries the abalone and chicken in a three-cup style
The chicken is tender, and the abalone is savory and bouncy—a unique and delicious dish
7. Pine Nut Fish: HKD$259
I originally ordered this for the pine nut fish to see the chef's knife skills,
But... disappointed~~~ It turned into ordinary sweet and sour fish,
Still, the whole fish was fried to a crisp, and the flavor was decent
8. Jinhua Ham Broth Napa Cabbage: HKD$98
After eating many heavy, oily dishes
Pairing with some light napa cabbage stewed in Jinhua ham broth is perfect for cutting the grease—quite nice
This restaurant's dishes are reasonably priced
The flavors are up to standard, the environment is nice, and transportation is convenient,
No wonder it's fully booked even on weekday evenings... Worth a visit if you have the chance~~
