When you come to Xiamen, if you haven't visited 「Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street」, it feels like you haven't really been to Xiamen! This is not only Xiamen's most bustling commercial district, but also the soul of the entire city in miniature.
Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is not just a commercial area; it's an old street that blends history, architecture, cuisine, and daily life. We arranged almost our entire first day's itinerary here, and strolling while eating was truly satisfying.
Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street is located in Xiamen's most prosperous Siming District, close to the Gulangyu ferry terminal, making it easily accessible.
How to get there?
Since the area around Zhongshan Road is a core commercial district, using public transportation is most convenient:
✔ Metro: Take Metro Line 1 to 「Zhenhai Road Station」 and walk about 3-5 minutes from Exit 1 or 2 to reach the pedestrian street entrance.
✔ Bus: Multiple bus routes in Xiamen city reach 「Zhongshan Road Station」 or 「Ferry Cruise Center Station」, with very frequent service.
Walking along the street, you'll see arcade buildings full of rich Nanyang charm. The main tones of pink and milky white give this century-old street a unique retro charm, set against weathered walls and old wooden windows.
This street is not only great for strolling and photos but also hides many cultural relics, such as Xiaozouma Road, the former residence of Chen Huacheng, and even the "First Holy Church of China" Xinjie Church. Every step feels like reading Xiamen's history.
Of course, as food lovers, our focus is definitely on the wide variety of Fujian-Taiwan snacks here!
Huang Zehe Peanut Soup
This is one of the representative old shops on Zhongshan Road. Many people come here for a bowl of peanut soup—it's historic and popular with locals.

It's self-service ordering. After entering, head straight to the counter. There's a clear price list above the items. Although the shop is named "Peanut Soup," you'll find a rich variety of dishes inside!
The counter display is filled with all kinds of items—from signature peanut soup and freshly fried sweet or savory fried dates to hearty buns and various southern Fujian-style pastries and hot snacks.
We ordered: peanut soup, youtiao, and buns—three items for a total of 14 RMB!
The peanut soup is truly impressive—peanuts stewed to a smooth consistency, sweet but not cloying broth. Pairing it with youtiao to soak up the soup takes it to the next level!
Adding a hearty bun makes it simple yet filling. The combination gives off the vibe of a local breakfast or afternoon tea.
Luckin Coffee Zhongshan Road Flagship Store
This one is special—it's Luckin Coffee's 10,000th store! It's a landmark location, with brand history displays and documentaries on the second floor.

This flagship store is spacious with clean, modern decor and a comfortable environment. The first floor features an open counter filled with coffee aroma and a generous seating area.
Heading up to the second floor feels like a small brand museum. The walls display Luckin's growth journey and documentaries, with a row of window-side seats perfect for leisurely coffee drinking.
We ordered a popular Coconut Latte—refreshing coconut aroma paired with rich coffee. After walking around the lively Zhongshan Road, relaxing here with air conditioning was truly enjoyable!
Strolling along Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, looking at the old wooden windows and dappled light on the historic buildings, you can almost converse with the city's history. Here, you'll find the unchanging sweet aroma of century-old peanut soup alongside the trendy flagship coffee scent. Tradition and modernity coexist elegantly on this old street.
