I've always heard that Yonghe Lehua Night Market is Taipei locals' late-night cafeteria, hiding tons of amazing local eats, but I never had the chance to visit in person. This time I finally stopped just hearing about it and came specifically for that legendary soul dish where "you can get unlimited refills of soup when dining in" — 鐘點棧當歸鴨! Come with me into the shop and check out this god-tier snack that I want to keep secret but can't help sharing!
Address: No. 8, Lane 18, Baoping Rd., Yonghe Dist., New Taipei City
Phone: (02) 2920-2205
Business Hours: 10:30–00:00 (Closed Tuesdays)
This 10+ year old shop standing strong in Lehua Night Market is not only a frequent favorite on Dcard and PTT, but also many foodies' top choice for warming and nourishing dishes with the best value!
鐘點棧當歸鴨 is very easy to find, right near the first alley at the Baoping Road entrance of Lehua Night Market. The owner learned from the masterful techniques of Douliu Angelica Duck, insists on selecting healthy ducks every day, and simmers dozens of Chinese herbs, chicken bones, and cabbage hearts to create this sweet, warming broth that even kids can enjoy.
Unlike typical old and greasy snack shops, the dining environment here is bright and clean, with air conditioning available for indoor seating so you can stay elegant and sweat-free even while drinking hot soup in summer. The layout is clearly divided into dine-in and takeout ordering areas, and all dishes are made to order with high efficiency.
No service charge here. Sauces and utensils are self-service, and you return bowls to the self-service recycling area after eating. Most importantly, they're open from noon until 00:30 AM, so whether you're looking for a proper dinner or a hot late-night snack after strolling the night market, the lights are always on waiting for you~
If you're a meat lover like me, come straight for the Duck Leg Rice! The owner is super generous with the meat — deboned duck leg sliced to perfect thickness, piled high until the rice is almost invisible underneath. The portion is incredibly satisfying~ The deboned duck leg meat is sliced evenly, stacked layer by layer, neatly covering the white rice with a massive portion — every bite delivers solid, thick chunks of meat~
The duck leg skin is springy and the meat tender, bursting with the signature sweet flavor and rich aroma of duck fat. It's never dry or tough, just perfectly chewy and juicy. The rice underneath is no slouch either — every grain evenly coated in golden, aromatic duck oil. The fragrance of the duck oil seeps into every plump grain, making the rice moist, springy, and full of layers. Paired with the Q-textured, tender duck leg meat, that duck aroma lingering on your tongue brings a satisfaction that makes you keep shoveling rice non-stop!
Strongly recommend adding a half-cooked poached egg or medicinal braised egg — it must be half-cooked so the golden yolk flows into the rice soaked in duck aroma and duck oil. That rich texture is absolutely divine!
Paired with a bowl of Duck Aroma Dry Noodles, the owner drizzles on refined rich duck oil and a secret special sauce, making the entire bowl of noodles shine with an appetizing glossy sheen~
They use handmade noodles with a firm texture, cooked just right — never mushy or sticky, but with an impressive springy chew. Every strand perfectly clings to the generous sauce, making it incredibly slurpable~
The handmade noodles absorb the angelica essence and duck meat sauce, topped with a generous amount of sliced duck meat. The meat is fine-textured, never dry, and you can feel the juices releasing in your mouth with every bite, offering a springy yet substantial chew unique to duck~
Next is this Angelica Rib Soup, absolutely the crown jewel of the shop! The broth uses chicken bones and vegetables to balance the medicinal flavor, tasting smooth and non-drying with zero bitterness~
The ribs are stewed until tender. The best part about dining in is that you can get unlimited free refills of the soup — for anyone who loves medicinal broths, the value is off the charts!
How can you skip the soul-satisfying side dishes with your main meal? Today I ordered Braised Tofu in Sauce, going for that classic old-school flavor. The tofu puffs are fully soaked in the perfectly balanced salty-sweet braising sauce, delivering a thick, satisfying bite
These seemingly simple side dishes, paired with the duck rice drenched in fragrant duck oil, create the most down-to-earth delicious feast~
鐘點棧當歸鴨 is more than just a duck specialty shop — it's like a haven offering warmth and energy in the bustling night market. From a bowl of steaming fresh angelica soup (never made from leftovers) to every thick, juicy slice of duck leg meat, you can feel the owner's dedication and sincerity in preserving traditional flavors. This visit lived up to every expectation, and I'm already looking forward to the next one~
Next time you're tired from strolling Lehua Night Market or need an amazing-value warming meal, don't hesitate — just head into the alley for a bowl of duck rice with angelica soup! This affordable yet ultimate enjoyment definitely deserves a spot on your revisit list~
