炙り庵steak牛排 is a delicious steak restaurant that we suddenly discovered while passing by last month. This Japanese-style steak specialty store, which has become extremely popular in Taipei, Linkou, Taoyuan, and other places in recent years, has a very Japanese-style vibe.
The flavors here are truly loved by both of us. At this price point, the meat quality is really impressive, and with unlimited refills of the braised beef sauce, you can truly eat to your heart's content.
Although there are other options at similar prices like Yokohama Steak at Nanjing Breeze, personally, I prefer 炙り庵steak牛排 for the meat quality relative to the price.
If you're looking for quality slightly better than affordable steak, this 炙り庵steak牛排, recommended by many blogs in Taipei, is truly worth it.
We invited two hosts to professionally explain and introduce the D&W Black and White Pairing article.

MRT: Take the Taipei MRT Wenhu Line (Brown Line) and get off at "Zhongshan Junior High School Station." Walk for about 3 minutes from the exit.
Walking Route: After exiting the station, head along Minquan East Road Section 3 toward Lane 60. Enter Lane 60, then turn into Alley 3 to arrive.
Stepping into 炙り庵牛排 Minquan Branch feels like arriving at a Japanese-style diner in the city.
The simple, bright space with warm wooden tables and chairs, combined with the aroma of steak wafting from the open kitchen, instantly puts you at ease and makes your mouth water.
As soon as you enter, you're greeted by the strong aroma of seared steak. Since the kitchen and dining area share the same space, the scent is quite intense upon entry.
However, after sitting inside for a while, the oily smoke smell becomes a bit too strong, especially when a neighboring table's steak is served, with hot sizzling smoke rising instantly—it's quite greasy.
Dine-in includes unlimited sparkling drinks, coffee, and tea. While there's no ice cream, you can enjoy Mei Li Guo smoothies.
In addition to unlimited drinks, they also offer unlimited fries, miso soup, and beef braising sauce with white rice.
The beef braising sauce is a must-try here. The beef chunks are generous and not just scraps.
It's the soul of the self-service bar and many foodies' "rice killer."
The flavor is truly different from braised pork. Scooping a spoonful over rice is incredibly delicious.
This beef braising sauce is slow-cooked with beef, beef tendons, and other cuts, blended with soy sauce, green onions, ginger, and spices for multiple layers of flavor.
The broth is rich and aromatic. It has a natural beefy aroma, salty and savory without being greasy, making it perfect with rice—you can't stop at one bowl.
The beef braising sauce often contains solid chunks of beef with a firm texture, where you can taste the fibers and sweetness of the meat.
This method differs from traditional Taiwanese braised pork rice—the beef aroma is more pronounced, with evenly distributed fat, delivering sauce flavor along with the meat's natural sweetness and gelatinous texture.
Beef lovers will truly devour this braising sauce pairing.
As for the unlimited fries, they're optional with no standout features. The only plus is that they're not overly greasy.
If you get tired of rice with sauce, you can grab some to try.
The menu at the entrance really caught our attention. Seeing purebred old Wagyu made us excited.
This time, we ordered the aged tender shoulder steak and the diaphragm steak.
The aged tender shoulder steak comes from the chuck eye roll of the shoulder blade area.
This cut has moderate exercise, resulting in firm yet tender meat. The thin tendon in the center is a unique feature of chuck eye roll and determines whether the beef is delicious.
When properly handled, eating the beef with this tendon gives a springy texture, but poor handling makes it tough to chew.
炙り庵steak牛排 handles it well—even medium-rare, the meat remains quite tender.
The surface is seared to a golden crisp, and the slight char enhances the meat's sweetness. The store seems to sous vide the beef before searing it on the griddle.
Cutting into the aged tender shoulder steak reveals a pinkish hue, with juices slowly flowing out.
The first bite delivers the fine tenderness unique to chuck eye roll, followed by a slight springiness from the central membrane.
With each chew, the beef's freshness and richness unfold in layers. This tender-yet-chewy texture satisfies the pursuit of delicacy while letting you experience the meat's primal power.
Plus, the thickness of this aged tender shoulder steak is truly substantial. Slicing off a whole piece and putting it in your mouth is incredibly satisfying.
Seasoned only with sea salt, black pepper, or house sauce, the beef's natural flavor takes center stage.
It's recommended to take the first bite without any sauce to savor the natural sweetness of the aged meat, then add a pinch of salt or black pepper sauce according to preference for different flavor layers.
The diaphragm (Harami) is located between the thoracic and abdominal cavities of the cow. Only a very small amount can be obtained from one cow, making it an extremely rare cut.
炙り庵steak牛排 uses old Wagyu for the diaphragm, with fine marbling, firm texture, elasticity, and juiciness.
As a skeletal muscle, the diaphragm has a deep red color and distinct fibers, delivering a unique beef aroma upon entry.
The first sensation of the diaphragm steak is a strong beef aroma, followed by a springy chew.
This unique fibrous texture adds layers to every bite.
The fine fat of old Wagyu slowly releases sweetness and meatiness during chewing, delivering a deep flavor that heavy meat lovers can't resist.
Eating steak at 炙り庵steak牛排 truly lets you feel the impact of the original cuts—each steak is the ultimate pursuit of deliciousness.
The aged tender shoulder steak intertwines tenderness and elasticity, letting you taste the delicacy and smoothness of the beef.
The old Wagyu diaphragm steak brings a rich meat aroma and unique chew, creating a profound flavor memory that leaves a lasting impression.
No matter which texture you prefer, you can find your own steak soul here.
Highly recommended for steak enthusiasts who want something a step above affordable steak. The price is reasonable, and compared to steaks that easily cost over a thousand, this meat quality and original cut deliciousness will make me return again and again.
