On this Xiamen and Fuzhou trip, we arranged a three-day, two-night mini getaway in Fuzhou. Before departure, we heard that Fuzhou offers many accommodation options at relatively affordable prices, and after actually staying, we were truly impressed by the value! The 「Sophis Pingshan Hotel」 we stayed at happened to be during the May Day holiday period, with a double room costing around TWD 2,000 per night, which felt like a great deal.
The hotel's location is very convenient, close to Shudou Station on Fuzhou Metro Line 1, with excellent surrounding amenities including plenty of food, snacks, and convenience stores nearby—making it easy to get around or find late-night snacks.
Sophis Pingshan Hotel is located at the intersection of Wusi Road and Hualin Road in Gulou District, a bustling area in Fuzhou. Right next to it is the Wusi Road commercial district, with several department stores and food streets nearby.
After taking Fuzhou Metro Line 1 to 「Shudou Station」, it's just a few minutes' walk from Exit C—very convenient for independent travelers. We took a taxi directly from Fuzhou Railway Station, which was inexpensive and hassle-free.
The hotel is also not far from popular Fuzhou attractions like Sanfang Qixiang, West Lake Park, Hot Spring Park, and Dongjiekou commercial area, making it easy to plan a day trip around the city.

The hotel exterior looks quite impressive, with a high-rise building featuring large glass curtain walls, giving it the feel of a business-class upscale hotel. There's also a driveway at the entrance for easy drop-off and pick-up, convenient for taxis.
Upon entering the lobby, the space is much more spacious than expected, with an elegant and steady style. The front desk staff were friendly, and check-in was quite fast. The lobby lounge area offers seating in a clean and comfortable environment—perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
The hotel also provides 24-hour natural hot springs, a gym, and a self-service laundry room—great perks for longer trips.
We stayed in a double room, and upon entering, the space felt much larger than expected with no sense of confinement. The bed was moderately firm and comfortable to sleep in—exactly what you need after a full day of walking during travel.

The room has excellent natural lighting, with large panoramic windows making the space feel even brighter and more pleasant when sunlight streams in during the day.
In addition to standard amenities, the room also provides welcome fruit, tea bags, and bottled water—thoughtful little details.
Although the bathroom doesn't have a bathtub, it scores well on cleanliness and comfort, with reliable hot water.
Staying in this area means never worrying about going hungry! One night after a late outing, we found this 「Herbal Soup」 spot near the hotel for a late-night meal.
「Herbal Soup」 is a well-known chain brand in Fujian specializing in medicinal cuisine. Their philosophy is 「The first kitchen is built on the farm」, emphasizing pure and healthy ingredients.
We ordered medicinal soup paired with noodles. The broth was warm and smooth, with generous portions of ingredients—super satisfying for a late-night bowl. After indulging in heavy flavors during travel, this warming soup was especially comforting.
Staying at Sophis Pingshan Hotel is ideal for exploring Fuzhou's city attractions together. Must-visit spots like Sanfang Qixiang feature many historic old streets and unique shops, perfect for strolls and photos. Other nearby attractions include West Lake Park and Hot Spring Park. In the evening, head to Dongjiekou commercial area or Daming Food Street for a variety of Fujian snacks, desserts, and late-night eats—Fuzhou's nightlife is livelier than expected.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at Sophis Pingshan Hotel. At around TWD 2,000 per night during the holiday period, the room space, transportation convenience, and overall comfort were all up to standard.
The convenient metro access and abundance of nearby food options are big pluses for independent travelers. If you're planning a trip to Fuzhou soon and looking for a hotel that's convenient, reasonably priced, and comfortable, add this one to your list.
