Visiting the Historical Nuclear Bomb Tragedy ~ Atomic Bomb Peace Memorial Park
Coming to Hiroshima reminds one of the tragedy caused by the first atomic bomb in history, which ended World War II.
The tour guide said some people might feel uncomfortable here; I thought it was due to residual nuclear radiation? It turns out it refers to the presence of many spirits, and sensitive people might feel uneasy.
This Atomic Bomb Dome was originally the "Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall." After suffering the devastation of the nuclear blast, the dome miraculously withstood the shockwave and heat rays. The first to third floors were destroyed, and all buildings within a two-kilometer radius collapsed.
We only viewed it from the perimeter. Japan has done an excellent job preserving the ruins. It is said that there was a long debate back then about whether to demolish or preserve it. In the end, it was decided to keep it as a way to denounce the horror of the nuclear bomb to the world, leaving behind the heartbreaking Atomic Bomb Dome.
Surrounding the Atomic Bomb Dome is the Atomic Bomb Peace Memorial Park.

Inside are paper cranes for prayers and some woven crafts.
Passing by the Peace Bell, one can ring it. This commemorates world peace. It is a sorrowful warning.
Moreover, here one dares not laugh or play around; it always feels like spirits might be staring at you. Although we are on a tour group, it is still better to be solemn at someone else's scar. Visiting such a place always brings a heavy feeling—not the kind of spirits on one's shoulders, but the heavy-heartedness that we cannot be too happy knowing how tragic others once were.
