This Qiaotou Snacks was also accidentally spotted online
While visiting Miaoli this time, I happened to have time so I came to try it
The storefront looks very low-key, just like a regular snack stall
The only difference is... there are already several groups lining up at the entrance
The store is very simple, with an open kitchen outside,
one side is the braised food area, the other side is the noodle cooking area
There is no menu inside the store, everything is on the wall, prices are very transparent
While waiting for a seat, you can order the main dish from the noodle cooking area on the right
If you want braised items, just go to the left to pick them up, then wait for your number
The prices for the braised side dishes are on the cabinet, some items not on the menu can be asked directly to the owner for the price
Honestly, every braised dish looks delicious
Every customer who finishes ordering the main dish comes over to grab a big plate~
If taking away, remember to pack some chili, especially the chili oil on the far right, it's super fragrant
The dining space inside is super homey, it's the front half of the first floor of the house converted into a shop
It feels like dining in an old house
The dining space is spacious, very clean and tidy, with high turnover rate
There are simple seasonings on the table, but not every table has the same ones, you can check other tables
This chive soy sauce is a unique seasoning from Miaoli, pairs well with noodles and side dishes
If you need a small bowl, you can take one yourself, feels just like eating at home
1. Braised Items: Chicken Skin (NT$30)/ Dried Tofu (NT$25)/ Pig Head Skin (NT$40)/ Kelp (NT$15)
This plate of side dishes, none of them disappoint. Braised thoroughly but not overly salty
Retains the original flavor of the ingredients with a hint of sauce aroma
Rarely eat braised chicken skin, surprisingly very springy
The dried chili on the side must be added, spicy and fragrant, pairs deliciously with every braised item
2. Duck Intestines: NT$40
Duck intestines are soft yet crispy, well prepared, no fishy smell at all,
already braised so it has a light sauce aroma, adding some shredded ginger enhances the flavor even more
3. Ban Tiao (Small): NT$50
This is a very traditional Hakka ban tiao, seasoned simply with fried shallots and soy sauce
The ban tiao itself is very chewy, paired with simple meat slices and some chives, it's a simple old-fashioned taste
If you can handle spice, suggest adding a bit of chili oil to enhance the flavor
4. Beef Noodles (Large): NT$140
A large bowl of beef noodles for only 140 yuan, really shocked me
In Taipei, any bowl easily exceeds 200 yuan
The beef inside has a full 7-8 large pieces, beef is tender but not mushy,
The soup is rich but not greasy. If not enough soup, you can ask for more~~
Comparing the two bowls side by side, the large bowl is really twice the size of the small one
The braised items and meals at this snack shop are all delicious, and the prices are reasonable, no wonder there's a constant crowd~
Next time I have a chance, I'll come try other dishes
