This time we chose the 川匠椒麻雞 set meal.
The set includes:
✔ Three side dishes
✔ Green salad
✔ Taiwanese clay pot soup
✔ White rice
✔ Main dish 椒麻雞 with moderate portions and balanced pairing, very suitable as a single-person set meal.
The green salad takes a refreshing approach, offering greens and cherry tomatoes.
However, no salad dressing was provided that day, making it taste quite plain. It is unclear if this was the original design or if the sauce was forgotten during preparation.
The side dishes that day included:
The bamboo shoots with golden kimchi were sour, fragrant, and crisp, very appetizing; the braised tofu was well-flavored; the pig ears retained a Q-crisp texture. All three side dishes were of good quality, enriching the entire set meal.
The Taiwanese clay pot soup included in the set was radish and clam soup that day.
The broth was sweet and smooth with natural umami, perfectly complementing the set meal to cut the greasiness and adding completeness to the entire portion.
The star 川匠椒麻雞 performed quite well.
The outer batter was fried to a crispy golden texture, maintaining crunchiness upon biting, while the chicken itself was tender and juicy, not dry from frying.
Paired with the house special peppery sauce, it has a slight spiciness and Sichuan pepper aroma that stimulates the appetite without being overly pungent. The overall flavor pairs excellently with rice.
The only minor drawback is that some fried chicken pieces had slightly thick batter; if thinner, the tender chicken texture would stand out even more.
