Located in Douliu, Yunlin, Hushan Reservoir is Taiwan's youngest off-channel reservoir. The park features a pure white radar station, a viewing platform, dam-top trails, and expansive lake views. On sunny days, the blue sky and white clouds reflect on the lake surface, making it ideal for strolling and photography. It's also a worthwhile free attraction to visit when planning Yunlin sights or a half-day trip to Douliu.
Next to the parking lot, the most eye-catching building is this pure white Hushan Reservoir Radar Station.
The entire building features a minimalist geometric design, with a towering white exterior paired with a central vertical skylight, full of modern architectural beauty. It has therefore been jokingly called by many visitors "a base for receiving signals from aliens."
Against the blue sky and white clouds, the pure white building stands out even more, making it one of the most iconic photo spots at Hushan Reservoir.
Right next to the Hushan Reservoir entrance, you can see a wooden boardwalk.
Walk slowly up the steps, and in about 1 minute you'll reach the viewing platform.
Although the trail is not long, once on the platform you can look down over the entire Hushan Reservoir, taking in the lake, mountains, and greenery all at once—an angle favored by many photography enthusiasts.
The Hushan Reservoir dam is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, with a round trip of about 3 kilometers.
Walking along the dam-top trail offers expansive views on both sides—one side is the emerald lake water, the other side is lush forests and rolling hills.
If time permits, slow down and enjoy the lake and mountain scenery from different angles while strolling.
The greatest charm of Hushan Reservoir in Yunlin is its changing scenery throughout the four seasons.
