Dear readers, foodies, and ramen enthusiasts! Today we visited this popular food destination that always has a line. The ramen shop that was all the rage recently—that's Qian Yun Ramen! Although the wait is tiring, once you taste the soul-stirring chicken white soup at Qian Yun Ramen, you'll find that all the waiting was somewhat worth it. The rich chicken white soup base is indeed good, but is it worth lining up for?
Stepping into the store, the simple yet elegant decor style immediately caught our eye. The shop uses wooden tables and chairs paired with soft lighting, creating an extremely comfortable dining environment. Every corner is filled with Japanese aesthetics.
Although the store space is not large, the sense of space inside is surprisingly good and doesn't feel crowded. You won't have to sit too close to the next guest like in local Japanese ramen shops; the dining space distance feels reasonable.
After sitting down, the tableware and condiments are neatly organized and kept very clean. Homemade chili oil, aged garlic, and chili garlic can all be paired with the ramen. The shop's attention to detail makes us even more excited for the upcoming meal.
The wall also thoughtfully introduces the features of their chicken white soup ramen. From the noodles to the broth and the preparation of the chashu, every step reveals the artisan's care.
The noodles use premium Japanese wheat flour, the broth is a special soup simmered for hours with chicken bones, and the chashu uses low-temperature cooking to lock in moisture and flavor. Just reading these words makes our mouths water, and we can't wait to verify if this bowl of ramen is truly that amazing.
千雲拉麵's menu is truly extensive. A typical ramen shop menu has at most 2-3 pages, but 千雲拉麵 has over 5 pages. In addition to the signature chicken white soup ramen, there are various small dishes, rice items, fried foods, and even drinks and alcohol. If you have trouble choosing, you can opt for the shop's planned set meals for two.
This bowl of 千雲全部盛 ramen arrived. Look at the chashu, chicken slices, chicken meatballs, onsen egg, and that bold piece of nori. Just looking at it makes my mouth water. The overall color combination is truly mouthwatering.
We ordered a signature ramen and a chicken salt ramen. The golden broth looks appetizing at first glance. The rich aroma of chicken white soup hits the nose, and we're already three parts drunk before even tasting it. We eagerly scooped up a spoonful of broth and put it in our mouths. This chicken white soup is rich but not overly greasy—truly a very fragrant and thick chicken broth.
Isn't the soul of ramen the noodles? Their noodles are incredibly chewy, fully absorbing the golden rich chicken white soup. Every bite is full of the essence of the broth.
Next, look at this sous vide chicken slice—pink and tender, you can tell just by looking how JUICY it is!
When you pick it up, you can feel the elasticity of the meat. One bite is truly fresh, tender, and juicy. Dieting? I don't know what that is! It's so delicious I'd run three extra laps around the track for it!
This chashu is also impressive. I thought it was just a small piece, but it turned out to be quite large when lifted.
The pink color and fat distribution of this chashu look beautiful. When picked up with chopsticks, it has a slight wobble. The meat aroma overflows, and it's quite soft and tender when bitten, but I prefer the chashu from 板橋雙豚拉麵.
And this unassuming chicken meatball, with visible small green onion bits inside, is solid and springy when eaten. Each one is packed with the fresh sweetness of chicken, adding several layers of flavor to the ramen.
The must-have soft-boiled egg for ramen makes its appearance. With a light pinch of chopsticks, you can feel its tenderness. Cutting the soft-boiled egg open with chopsticks, the half-cooked yolk slowly flows out. That golden egg liquid is simply a crime scene!
Moving on to this bowl of salt chicken ramen, it looks like it takes a refreshing route. Unlike the signature chicken white soup, the broth of the salt chicken ramen is relatively clear, but it still comes with plenty of toppings.
With a few slices of red beet or radish paired with yellow yuzu peel (I'm guessing!), it visually adds points. Just looking at it feels refreshing and light—perfect for summer.
Although the broth of the salt chicken ramen is clear, it doesn't lack depth when drunk. The fresh sweetness of chicken and the salty aroma of sea salt combine perfectly. One sip after another, it never gets tiring. If you don't like overly rich broth, this bowl is definitely your best choice!
千雲拉麵's special chili looks bright red and full of heat—spice lovers absolutely can't miss it.
Previously, when passing by the original store on Linsen North Road and seeing the crowds, I had some expectations for 千雲. But after eating, I felt it was just an ordinary chicken white soup ramen. Although the broth has a strong chicken flavor, it was a bit overly salty for me. Plus, considering the price relative to the portion of ingredients provided, I personally think the value isn't very high. It can't compare to 蒝山拉麵's free noodle refill service. After finishing, I didn't feel full—maybe this portion is more suitable for women..
In terms of taste, I still prefer the duck white soup at 蒝山拉麵. The duck white soup base is also quite rich, but the flavor is relatively light and sweet, with a fresh duck aroma in every sip. But 千雲's chicken white soup doesn't quite make it. If the price could be between 220-280, it might be acceptable, but at nearly 400 per bowl including service fee, I wouldn't recommend it.
