Dogo Onsen Street Cat Pudding, Pie Specialty Store Tsutsumi Apple Pie, Ehime no Shokutaku 1970. Faucet Orange Juice
One of Japan's three major ancient hot springs~ Dogo Onsen, is a must-visit Matsuyama attraction in Ehime Prefecture. Due to the crowds, it has formed the prosperous Dogo Onsen shopping street.
Right next to it is Dogo Station, so transportation here is also very convenient.
On the other side is the famous Dogo Onsen Botchan Clock, which plays music every hour and performs the character images from Natsume Soseki's novel Botchan.
After strolling through the shopping street, we happened to catch the Botchan Clock performance, which unfolds layer by layer with dolls coming out to dance.
What's great about Japanese shopping streets is that they all have roofs, so you don't have to worry about rain.
There's Acorn Republic.
There's Iori, a store inside selling the specialty Imabari towels.
There's the traditional old-fashioned Japanese sweets shop - Barado.
There are also tons of stores to browse.
Ichiroku Honpo.
At the end of the shopping street is Dogo Onsen, said to be the inspiration for the "Oil House" in Spirited Away.
Arriving at the shopping street, we rushed straight to Pie Specialty Store Tsutsumi Dogo Branch for apple pie, since they were closing early.
It looked super delicious in the display case.
One bite was really amazing~~ It's truly the best apple pie on Dogo Onsen Street, crispy outside and soft inside, fragrant and smooth, finished in an instant.
There's also the super delicious Dogo Cat Pudding
There are tons of flavors.
Each one is super rich and delicious, full of milky aroma.
You can also buy their insulated bags for convenient shopping.
Coming to Ehime no Shokutaku 1970, you can even taste orange juice flowing from a faucet.
This is a super interesting store specializing in Ehime's specialty orange juice.
At the entrance, there's a chart showing the sweetness, acidity, and bitterness levels of various oranges.
Pick the one you like and pour it yourself with a paper cup.
After pouring, take it to checkout. I personally like orange juice with high sweetness.
(Friendly tip: Never drink orange juice right after eating pudding, it will taste more sour.)
