On a rainy day or hot weather, looking for an indoor spot unaffected by weather where you or your kids can burn off energy and take beautiful photos? Then you absolutely can't miss the recently IG-viral 「大魯閣Roller186 Roller Rink」 located next to Taipei Arena. This place has also sparked a cultural renaissance trend, with the store themed around unique 「Psychedelic Space」, combining 70s and 80s retro ice palace elements with trendy interactive technology to create a quad roller skating paradise that feels like stepping into another dimension. Besides young people, there are also groups of uncles and aunties holding hands and skating fast, truly a great place for all ages to burn off energy.

Entering from the Taipei Arena ice palace entrance, you immediately see the 大魯閣Roller186 Roller Rink Taipei Arena branch. You'll be instantly captivated by the techy blue-purple tones and neon lights at the entrance. There are also many claw machines and dart machines outside, making it feel like entering an unknown interstellar adventure. The entire space design is filled with cosmic psychedelic visual tension, making you eager to grab your phone and snap photos before even starting to skate.
Previously, Taipei Arena skating only brought to mind ice skates that required wearing a jacket, but now 大魯閣 Group has opened a new business line beyond baseball and bowling. The words 大魯閣Roller186 stand out strikingly under the blue-purple glow, and the cute cosmic robot installation art adds a touch of childlike fun. Both adults and kids will be drawn to this thoughtful decor.
Besides the main roller rink, 大魯閣Roller186 has thoughtfully added many surrounding entertainment facilities, like this row of electronic dart machines and kids' bowling lanes. If you're tired, there are three coin-operated massage machines. Whether waiting to enter, resting from skating, or family members waiting outside, you can have a little PK match with friends to enrich the play experience. The lighting design here is truly psychedelic~ filled with neon colors, every corner is a perfect photo spot, like being in a cyberpunk world inside the store.
At the ticket counter, you can see clear pricing info. Taipei Arena branch weekday admission for 1.5 hours is 280 yuan, weekends 330 yuan. Additionally, renting roller skates and protective gear costs an extra 100 yuan per person. If you exceed the time, add 100 yuan every 30 minutes.
Of course, if you bring your own quad roller skates, you can skip the rental fee~ If you really love skating, you can buy a membership card, as low as 215 yuan per session to enjoy the AC and skating.
By the way! Before entering, everyone must agree to the entry rules. Even if buying tickets for family, unless it's a young child without a phone, everyone is required to fill out an entry consent form!! Children under 145 cm in height are also not allowed to enter.
When renting roller skates, there's a thoughtful foot size measurement board under the counter~ You can take off your shoes and step on it to match the size to ensure the most comfortable fit. Remember to wear them tight to avoid injury.
After getting your skates and gear, head to the spacious and bright locker area on the right side of the counter. These lockers use combination locks with no need for extra coins, letting you safely store your belongings and enjoy skating light.
The colorful lighting design makes the locker area vibrant too, making the retrieval process fun. The combination lock part needs careful study; later I just gave up and left everything to DONG's locker for safekeeping.
After purchasing tickets at the counter, you'll receive a paper wristband with a QR code. Once you have your skates and protective gear, you can stylishly pass through the entrance gate. Scan the QR code on the wristband to start timing and officially begin your psychedelic space roller skating journey!
This time besides me and DONG, we also brought two college friends. Watching them seriously organizing items and putting on gear in the locker area was fun, but since roller skating has certain risks, staff recommend everyone must wear knee pads, wrist guards, and helmets to protect yourself and enjoy safely. After all, we're all over 40, really can't handle falls.
Next to the changing area, there are neat shoe racks and helmet racks with various sizes and colors of helmets available for visitors, though I noticed almost no one wearing them. It seems like quad skating won't cause head bumps.. but the neatly arranged display not only makes them easy to access but also shows the venue's emphasis on safety. Still, a reminder to protect yourself to fully enjoy the skating fun.
Ready players are already eagerly waiting at the edge to enter the rink area. Many can be seen here learning to maintain balance. It's interesting how nervous people get right after putting on skates, but I think younger players actually skate better than adults, directly rushing out smoothly~
The sign at the edge clearly reminds everyone 「Please wear safety gear and roller skates before entering」. The vivid illustrations on the sign also let players know which gear to prepare and where to wear it, ensuring every entrant gets proper protection. But it mainly depends on your skating ability; you can also enter without any gear~ At least I saw people skating backwards without anything on.
What comes into view is a fairly spacious rink. Although it can accommodate at least 100 people at once, I think with that many it would be hard to skate smoothly. There seems to be crowd control; at least during our 1.5+ hours inside, the number stayed around 30 people, making it quite smooth.
The entire rink space features deep purple tones with constantly changing neon lights, creating a strong psychedelic space atmosphere. The retro quad roller skates provided by the store light up underfoot, making you feel like truly wandering among the stars while gliding. If the space were adjusted a bit, you might see light trails like in the movie 「Tron」.
There's also a beginner practice area planned. The right side of the rink has handrails for beginners to hold onto while slowly practicing, building rapport with quad skates until confidently gliding to the main area.
Personally, fast skating is fine here, but groups holding hands and skating backwards quickly can scare many beginners from entering~ I wonder if the venue can control this issue; I find it quite terrifying.. I saw them weaving through other skaters to go fast, which feels scary..
DONG is good at inline skating but surprisingly not great at quad skates~ He was fully geared up with all protective equipment out of fear of falling~ I saw him spend nearly 30 minutes practicing on the beginner track before finally entering the main area. Watching from behind while taking photos suddenly felt heartwarming~ Finally seeing DONG skate on quad skates.
By the way~ There's no special teaching on how to skate inside the venue. Only when returning the skates did I discover there are tutorial screens next to the counter at entry. Friends unfamiliar with quad skates can watch the video tutorial before trying.
大魯閣Roller186 Taipei Arena branch is not just a sports venue, but also an influencer hotspot perfect for beating the heat, rainy day backup, and photo check-ins!
The music paired with the decor inside truly creates a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The venue plays upbeat music that makes you unconsciously sway to the rhythm. It seems on weekends the venue occasionally hosts 「Space Music Roaming DJ Music Show」, letting you glide to the music beat for an even more exciting vibe and unforgettable roller skating experience.
