[Corporate Slave Chat] Full Capacity As Far As The Eye Can See

When I first joined this company, I didn't think much about it; I just felt that everything was fairly smooth. During the interview, the supervisor said that September's production capacity and orders were roughly balanced, not particularly busy and not too idle. The first two months after joining were indeed like that, like the so-called newbie honeymoon period, clocking out on time every day, with not much pressure, and even having some time to slowly get familiar with the processes and understand the systems. At that time, I really thought this was the rhythm of work going forward.

But probably from November approaching December, the whole situation was like suddenly turning on a switch; production capacity directly surged to full load, and it's not a temporary busyness, but it has continued all the way to now without really easing up. In addition, the company's pursuit of performance, production and sales and business continuously pulling forward the delivery dates, the already fully scheduled production line is compressed even tighter, with almost no breathing space.

If it were just simply full capacity, it would still be understandable, at most just a bit busier and getting off work a little later, but precisely starting from those months, various production anomalies became very frequent. From the front-end board issues to the back-end system problems, it hardly stopped; the board end was already at full capacity, and still had to handle anomalies, inspections, and rework, leading to often encountering a very helpless situation— the schedule was already set, people were prepared, but the boards hadn't arrived, or were under inspection, so we couldn't start the line at all.

That feeling is actually very frustrating, because the schedule isn't just arranged; it's a whole chain of interconnected rhythms. Once the front gets stuck, the back-end system time gets compressed, and the delivery dates are naturally affected. Every anomaly isn't just a single point problem; it links to the entire capacity configuration, making the already tense arrangements even more chaotic.

I've been stumbling along in this state for half a year. Every day, adjusting, patching holes, rearranging, trying to meet what seems like endlessly more order demands than reality with limited capacity, manpower, and time.

After doing it for a while, I often wonder if it's something I'm not doing well enough, or if this whole environment is just difficult.

Sometimes I jokingly think, I don't know if I'm particularly 'auspicious' for this company, encountering a surge in orders as soon as I arrived, or if I'm actually 'bringing bad luck', with all problems erupting together after I came in. But thinking calmly, it doesn't seem to be such a simple cause-and-effect relationship; rather, this system originally has its limits, it's just that once demand exceeds that line, plus a bit of anomaly, it starts to lose control.

Capacity is just that much, people are just these people; it won't automatically grow more resources just because orders increase, but the pressure is real and pressing down. When everything is operating on the edge of limits, a small problem is enough to reshuffle the entire arrangement.

Maybe the problem isn't all on me, nor all on the company, but under these real conditions, there originally isn't a perfect solution.

But as someone in it, I still can't help but repeatedly ask myself in the daily chaos and adjustments— is it that I haven't learned how to cope yet, or is this originally a battle that's hard to stabilize no matter how hard you try?
