Step into PenghuDuxing 10th Village, explore the musical footprints of Chang Yu-sheng and Pan An-bang, and experience the purest island daily life in the veterans' village woven with old houses and sea breeze. Follow this one-day stroll guide to eat, drink, play, and take photos all at once!
Duxing 10th Village is the oldest veterans' village in all of Taiwan, and also the hometown of the late famous Taiwanese singers Pan An-bang and Chang Yu-sheng. Combining ancient mottled stone walls with Japanese-style wooden old houses, through the efforts of artists, it has become a well-known tourist spot and cultural and creative park, while preserving the 'Pan An-bang Memorial Hall' and 'Chang Yu-sheng Story Museum' for two legendary figures in Taiwanese music, to experience the alleys where they ran and jumped as children. Today's Duxing 10th Village is no longer just a daily base for military families, but a carrier of memories for rock and folk songs.
Penghu Duxing 10th Village is located in Magong City, about 15 minutes by car from Magong Airport. If you're energetic, walking from the city center is just enough to digest your breakfast.
Duxing 10th Village is not very big, but every corner is extremely photogenic, especially on a good weather day; any shot looks great, casually creating miraculous photos.
In every little corner of Duxing 10th Village, there are unexpected surprises; many murals and graffiti are really cute.
Paired with blue skies and white clouds, every place is great for photos and check-ins.
The Yan Ju Bookstore, renovated from a Japanese-style old house, has a super photogenic vintage interior space with coffee to drink and relax.
There are also many exhibitions to see, with excellent natural lighting!
Especially this corridor is really beautiful.
Drinking coffee and taking photos here is super relaxing and comfortable~
Their coffee is also very delicious; today I bought some and got a free pack of coffee.
So lucky! The emojis on the packaging are so cute.
On the seaside low wall, there is a statue.
It turns out this is Grandma's Penghu Bay right here! If you have strong empathy,
you can stay at this low wall, feeling the longing of the elderly in Penghu as they watch the drifting ships at sea, anticipating the return of their children and grandchildren.
The daily nostalgia and reluctance are truly moving.
Come here quickly to hold Grandma's hand
and tell her you've come back to see her; Grandma's smile is really kind.
Chang Yu-sheng is an incredibly legendary singer with so many songs still popular today.
It turns out his home is right here!
Stepping into the Chang Yu-sheng Memorial Hall, it not only introduces his legendary life but also includes many small stories from his life, including how he was named Yu-sheng because he was born on a rainy day, making it very immersive.
Every small window nurtures each of Chang Yu-sheng's songs; it's really interesting.
If you want to visit these spots smoothly and easily, I recommend this walking route:
Simultaneously enjoy the artistic feel + historical feel + Penghu flavor, satisfying three kinds of experiences at once.
Duxing 10th Village is full of historical traces and flavors, like a slow song that's been sung for a long time; it's a bit old but gets more flavorful the more you listen, and you never get tired of it. If you're in Penghu, give yourself some time without schedule pressure, step into Penghu Duxing 10th Village, and carefully listen to the old records gently singing amidst the waves.
Warm Reminder: The sunset is super beautiful to watch, but most shops close before 17:00, so plan your time accordingly.
