There are many high-end restaurants in Taipei, and Hana錵鐵板燒 in Zhongshan District is one of them!
Many people also choose them for anniversary restaurants and date restaurants. Dong really likes the multi-layered dishes
Knowing that it is a long-established restaurant, I had very high expectations for Hana錵鐵板燒
The location of Hana錵鐵板燒 in Zhongshan District is very special
Hidden at the end of Nong'an Street
There is also valet parking service on the first floor. You can tell at a glance that it is a high-end restaurant!
As soon as you step into the second floor, you see a huge bull's head!
It startled me!
So I want to startle everyone too XDDD
There is also a full wall of wine cabinet on the wall
Dating here feels quite impressive~
Before seating, you will first go to the waiting area next door (which is also the dessert area)
After the seats are prepared, they will guide us to our table~
All their seats are independent teppanyaki spaces, one chef per teppanyaki table
The seats come with napkins, hand towels, and a plate of pickled raw onions
Quite sweet~
Just like many high-end restaurants
Water fee is charged, meaning still water and sparkling water are extra~
After seating, there is a sign next to the table indicating the water fee
The staff does not specifically remind you
The service is indeed somewhat below expectations
Next, the appetizer is served~
When served, they specifically remind that there is a small bottle of olive oil next to it that you can drizzle on to enhance the flavor
The soy sauce next to it can also be used appropriately
BUT!
After opening this olive oil, you simply can't pour it out
No matter how you shake or drip it, it won't come out, and a fork can't help you use this olive oil smoothly either
So you can only eat it directly. Luckily the sea urchin is very fresh! The sweet and rich flavor, paired with popping salmon roe
Adds a lot of flavor in the mouth
The raw onion at the bottom is quite spicy, topped with a bit of salmon meat to enhance the rich taste. It's really quite good
This size is just right for two people for one meal
Table service will refill it for us at the right time
The pumpkin soup is rich and sweet, with a strong seafood flavor
Inside, there are indeed many fresh ingredients simmered together. Besides vegetables, you can also taste shrimp, fish slices, and squid!
The seafood clear soup is incredibly rich
There is plenty of fish inside, and the amount of ginger shreds used is very clever
Doesn't feel particularly unpleasant
This bread is a bit disappointing
It's not really crispy
And the garlic flavor isn't strong enough
Just an ordinary bread
While we were enjoying the previous dishes, our chef was busy preparing this phoenix tail prawn!
The chef doesn't talk at all, so the whole table eats quietly
Since the seats are arranged in a circle, everyone is just eating with their heads down XD This actually creates a bit of pressure
Teppanyaki sometimes needs some interaction from the chef! What a pity!
After finishing the previous dish
The phoenix tail prawn is then served. The serving speed matches your dining pace
It's quite good. Besides the prawn itself being very springy
Dipping it in the wasabi salad dressing next to it is unforgettable. Especially the mushrooms beside it
The aroma from grilling is incredibly enticing! It makes you want more~
This dish is Dong's favorite among the starters!
From the truffle sauce at the bottom
To the cheese tomato, cod, and the seasoning on the cod, every part creates overlapping flavors
Even when eaten together in one bite, you can still taste the layered experience
The slightly charred and firm texture of the cheese tomato actually makes the layers between it and the cod more distinct
Starter Scallop with Cheese and Sea Urchin Sauce
Parmesan cheese is placed directly on the teppanyaki grill, becoming a decorative piece!
So cool~
Placed horizontally on the scallop
A large scallop topped with fish roe
Wave after wave of umami, and finally a bite of cheese
So salty! Then let your taste buds reset with another wave of seafood comeback
This salad wasn't very enjoyable
The staff barely spoke during service
The way to eat this dish wasn't explained either. No spoon, and no mention that the cup next to it is fruit vinegar dressing. I had no idea what it was for!
After we puzzled over it for a while, we asked and learned that you're supposed to DIY mix it with the vegetables
Turns out it's a cup of 'dressing'. The black quinoa is eye-catching and tastes quite refreshing
But it's not particularly outstanding
The service was a bit of a letdown. It felt strange that they didn't remind us
The marbled fat is mesmerizing
Before cooking, we specially asked the chef to let us take a photo
It's really beautiful! Before cooking, they asked how well done we wanted it
For such good quality meat, of course medium or medium-rare!
We ordered it medium
After cooking, it will first be placed on a rack
Once we're almost done eating, they'll quickly reheat the meat on the grill
Then serve it
Paired with soft and tender grilled garlic
The beef looks mouthwatering when served. The ribeye tendon part is cooked more well-done. The tendon area might be tough if cooked medium, so handling it separately is thoughtful and professional. The rest of the meat remains soft and melts in your mouth
You could easily eat ten pieces of this!
Dipped with black rock salt, it brings out the aroma of the beef fat even more!
Hana錵鐵板燒's Angus black beef ribeye is all Prime grade beef
It really feels satisfying to eat~
It seems like bean sprouts are always served at teppanyaki restaurants
錵鐵板燒 keeps this traditional feature. Although some people think
Eating bean sprouts at a date or high-end restaurant is a buzzkill
But until this dish appeared
It reminds me that I'm in a teppanyaki restaurant!
After finishing all the savory main courses
The staff will guide us back to the waiting area where desserts have already been prepared at every table!
Even the seats are arranged~ Today's dessert is pudding + chocolate cake crisps
There is a piece of chocolate cake in the middle of the pudding
The slightly sweet cake is sprinkled with chocolate crisps on top. The added texture is quite a surprise
The seasonal fruits next to it are kiwi and mango
Both are refreshing choices to cleanse the palate~
There are many drink options
Coffee, yuzu tea, black tea, milk tea, both iced and hot
But the flavors are really average~ No need to expect too much
Mainly to pair with dessert!
Dong ordered the sweet iced milk tea
William ordered the hot yuzu tea to cleanse the palate. The space in the waiting area is very relaxing
You won't be staring at others
Being able to chat and eat dessert relaxed is the most relaxing moment of the entire meal~
Overall
The ingredients used at Hana錵鐵板燒 are all high-end and premium
The natural flavors are also of a certain standard, but the service might need some improvement
But on the other hand, if you are someone who doesn't like being disturbed, this might be a very suitable restaurant for you!
