Well-balanced Chicken Salt Ramen ~ Menjo GURI Tora AEON Mall Okayama Store
After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we rushed to AEON MALL for some crazy shopping. Once we got really hungry, we decided to head to the food court on the 6th-7th floor for a meal.
We originally planned to line up for the super delicious Hakata tempura place we tried last time, but there were too many people waiting—almost an hour—and we got too hungry so we gave up and went elsewhere.
Coincidentally, I came across this ramen shop called Menjo GURI Tora (麺処ぐり虎) and it didn't look like a long wait, so I decided on the Chicken Salt Ramen.
This randomly chosen ramen shop on the 6th floor of AEON turned out to be listed in the Michelin Guide 2021 and has won awards at various ramen expos in Japan, so my expectations shot up.
There's an electronic menu board at the entrance that's easy to read at a glance.
Every flavor looks delicious.
There's a tablet on each table for self-ordering.
They also have plenty of raw-grade eggs and nori available for free—how awesome!
In the end, I went for their most popular signature dish: the "Chicken Salt Ramen" that highlights the fresh flavor of chicken.
The broth was really excellent. The chef uses carefully selected ingredients and minimizes seasoning to bring out the natural flavors, so it's not overly salty. Maybe because I was starving, I finished it in no time and still wanted more—definitely worthy of a champion ramen!
I also added a side of fries as a little snack.
