✨Pingtung Wannianxi Lantern Festival is often heard of, but as Donggang locals, we actually went for the first time, so insane～
✨This time we went because we happened to be near Shengli New Village and thought we could check it out, but unexpectedly had a pleasant surprise.
✨Originally Dad planned to wait in the car because parking spots were hard to find, thinking we'd finish quickly, but Wannianxi is quite long, so we walked a short section and searched for parking nearby. Finally after Dad parked, we started walking.
✨The first thing that caught our eye was this, not sure of the name, but it's hanging lanterns that reflect on the water creating two layers, super beautiful～Especially for someone with poor eyesight like me, I thought they were placed not far above the water, but up close they seem at least one story high.
✨Next are several colorful spheres, super beautiful…. I said they look like watermelons, family laughed at me, but checking the name it's "Guoshi", I'm pretty good, the colors match so vibrantly, so pretty～
✨There are many other lanterns that are very beautiful, worth seeing in person.
✨The roadside trees are also covered with little bulbs, and there's a fire-trees-silver-flowers installation with sequins on top and lights underneath, creating purple and silver effects, very creative.
✨There are also five horses running, reflected in the water becoming ten horses running, truly doubling the effect, amazing.
✨The main lantern is this horse, which changes colors beautifully, and tons of people are taking photos. From afar it looks a bit like a seahorse, with horns like a unicorn.
✨Later checking on IG there were many more places we missed, but we'd reached the end, and there's a blue skybridge. Thought there wasn't much left so we went the other way, assuming lanterns were all on the other side, but bet wrong—only a bunch of conical hat decorations.
✨Besides the staircase lanterns, we didn't find the rest. Thinking about it, the most likely is you need to enter that blue skybridge to reach them, but it was already quite late and everyone had walked all day so we were tired, so we headed straight home～
