When traveling to Sun Moon Lake, most people plan to visit the Xiangshan Visitor Center, Ita Thao Pier, or Shuishe Pier. However, the Toushe Basin area is also quite nice. This time, we discovered a great ice cream shop nearby called "哇拉蜜法式手工冰淇淋店".
From the outside, it looks quite low-key, without the noisy vibe of tourist areas. Instead, it feels like a private home tucked away in the countryside. In addition to selling French handmade ice cream, the shop also offers a variety of traditional ice pops to choose from, and the prices are very affordable, with ice pops starting from just 8 yuan.
哇拉蜜 is located in Toushe Village, Yuchi Township, not far from the Toushe Basin. It takes about ten minutes by car from Sun Moon Lake. Unlike the main scenic areas of Sun Moon Lake, this place is much less crowded. Along the way, you can enjoy mountain views and rural scenery, making the drive very pleasant.
For self-driving travelers, it is very convenient. The shop has ample parking space, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot. Many cyclists riding around the lake also use this place as a rest and refueling stop.

What surprised me the most about 哇拉蜜 is the environment! Unlike typical ice cream shops, it has a large outdoor courtyard filled with lush greenery and open space, making it feel especially comfortable. The surrounding area is planted with many flowers and plants, adding a sense of rural leisure to the air.
After buying ice cream, many people sit in the outdoor rest area to enjoy it slowly. Sometimes on a trip, you don't have to rush through the itinerary—staying in such an environment for a while is also a kind of enjoyment.
Ice pops start from just 8 yuan, which was quite a surprise when I saw the price list.
Although ice cream prices have generally been rising, 哇拉蜜's traditional ice pops still maintain very affordable prices. Depending on the flavor, each pop costs around 8 to 15 yuan, which is truly pocket-change level.
There are also plenty of flavors available on-site, including red bean, mung bean, taro, roselle, and fruit series—offering a rich selection.
The roselle ice pop delivers the unique sweet-and-sour aroma of roselle right from the first bite.
The acidity is not too sharp but very smooth, especially refreshing on a hot day. The ice pop itself is not overly sweet, and a light fruity fragrance lingers after eating.
In addition to ice pops, the other star of the shop is the French handmade ice cream. According to records, the owner has invested in French ice cream techniques, so the shop has long been known for its handmade ice cream, which is one of the reasons many visitors come specifically to try it.
The peach ice cream lets you taste the natural peach aroma without any artificial fragrance. The texture is smooth and fine, with just the right sweetness, making it very refreshing.
We also chose the vanilla paired with wine-marinated grape flavors. The vanilla has a rich milky aroma and is a classic, easy-to-enjoy type; the wine-marinated grape adds a mature adult touch, with a hint of wine and grape fragrance, offering rich layers.
