Summer afternoons always make people especially want to find an ice shop to sit and enjoy a bowl of ice to cool off. That day we visited Taoyuan Xinwu for the 2026 Taoyuan Land Art Festival, taking photos and checking in. After enjoying the sea breeze, we suddenly felt like having ice on the way back. After searching around Xinwu city area, we found a shop with a very flavorful name hidden in the alleys called 「水巷冰室」.
The most special thing here is the rare "Japanese-style milk cap shaved ice." The thick layer of special milk cap on top looks like snow covering the ice mountain, making your mouth water just by looking at it. Plus, their toppings are fresh and delicious, many handmade, showing the shop's care!
水巷冰室 is located on Dianxin Street in Xinwu District. Its location is easy to find, right across from Chunghwa Telecom. Although the shop is in a small alley, you can park at the entrance, street corners, or nearby roadside.
The shop has a simple, cozy, fresh style. The white signboard with large 「水巷冰室」 is easy to spot when passing by.

Inside the shop, the air conditioning feels very comfortable. The seating area is not large but clean and bright.
The menu items are clear at a glance. Mainly divided into three categories:
Japanese-style Milk Cap Shaved Ice (dine-in only): The shop's signature! Options like Shizuoka White Jade Matcha, Taro Mud Waterfall, Mango Snow Mountain, each a visual and tasteful delight.
Classic Shaved Ice and Counter Pick 3 ($60): For traditional flavors, the shop has pre-made Shui Xiang No.1 to No.10, or pick any three toppings from the counter.
Self-serve Shaved Ice ($20 per 100g): Like a buffet, serve yourself, pay by weight. High freedom! Toppings include taro balls, sweet potato balls, white jade pearls, mi tai mu, and honey taro.
Mango Snow Mountain ($200)
This bowl amazed everyone when served! The ice is cut into big chunks, overflowing with bright golden fresh mangoes, completely hiding the ice below. The highlight is the thick layer of snow-like special milk cap on top, dotted with a touch of green.
One bite, the sweet and slightly sour taste of fresh mango bursts in the mouth. The shop's handmade natural mango sauce is rich in aroma, with just the right sweetness. The best part is the Japanese-style milk cap, extremely smooth and dense, with a light salty milky aroma that blends with the mango sweetness, creating layered milky notes without being heavy.
Comes with a small bowl of translucent white jade pearls on the side. Adding them gives great chewiness and full marks for texture!
Taro Mud Waterfall ($160)
For taro lovers, this bowl is a must! True to its name, rich Dajia taro mud flows down like a waterfall from the ice mountain top mixed with milk cap.
The toppings are abundant: handmade taro balls and sweet potato balls arranged around the ice mountain base for Q弹 layered texture, plus a bowl of "honey taro"!
Scooping in, the taro mud is fine and silky, with pure rich taro aroma. The honey taro is also impressive, soft and glutinous outside, with a fluffy dense center. Paired with brown sugar shaved ice and savory-sweet milk cap, it heals body and soul.
This visit to 水巷冰室, the ice desserts are not only photogenic but also of high quality. Mango Snow Mountain has fresh fruit, Taro Mud Waterfall has rich aroma. Both have unique features, reasonable prices, generous portions, perfect for sharing with family.
