Our first night traveling in Hualien, we chose to stay at "Breathe Homestay" located in Ji'an Township.
For us, travel doesn't always require staying in a luxury hotel. Sometimes a homestay that feels comfortable, cozy, and even a bit like returning to a friend's home leaves a deeper impression.
From the moment we arrived at the homestay, we could feel that this place was different from ordinary accommodations. There was no overly ornate decor or deliberately styled influencer aesthetics, but rather an atmosphere that naturally allowed us to relax.
Additionally, the adorable cats and dogs at the homestay added many warm little episodes to what would have been just an ordinary night of accommodation.
Breathe Homestay is located in Ji'an Township, Hualien County, not far from Hualien City. The surrounding living facilities are convenient, making it easy to reach Dongdamen Night Market, city dining, or popular attractions.

Taking a taxi from Hualien Station takes about 10 minutes to reach.
Upon arriving at the homestay entrance, the lush greenery and cute cats strolling leisurely immediately put us in a relaxed mood. This is not just an ordinary homestay, but a paradise for pet lovers!
Breathe Homestay itself is a pet-friendly homestay, housing very affectionate and well-behaved cats and dogs. They roam and cuddle freely without guard, and the warm, healing interactions allow animal-loving travelers to feel a full sense of friendliness right upon arrival.
Entering the first-floor lobby, the warm yellow-orange and brick-red walls make it feel like returning home. The spacious lounge features a large bookshelf wall filled with various books, along with many exquisite handmade wood carvings and driftwood decorations.
The public space is arranged with great character, and one can feel the homestay owner's love for living aesthetics everywhere.
During check-in, the homestay owner warmly introduced Hualien attractions. From popular tourist spots to hidden routes, even little secrets known only to locals were shared.
Sometimes the most precious part of travel isn't the attractions themselves, but the stories and sharing from locals. From the conversation, one can feel that the owner truly loves Hualien and hopes every traveler can see a different side of Hualien.
This time we stayed in the Sunny Quad Room. As soon as we opened the door, the first feeling was "so bright."
The large windows allow natural light to flood the room, so even staying indoors doesn't feel oppressive, and the room space is much more spacious than imagined.
The two large beds are perfect for family travel, even with kids sharing won't feel too crowded.
The overall color scheme is mainly soft tones, looking clean and comfortable without excessive decoration, yet very pleasing to the eye. After a full day of travel, what one needs most is exactly this kind of space to rest well.
From the decor design to the details of various facilities, one can feel the homestay owner's thoughtfulness and taste. For example, the room is equipped with a multi-port multifunctional fast charger and various charging cables. For us who need to recharge cameras, phones, laptops and other devices while traveling, this is simply thoughtful to the extreme!
The soundproofing is also good, and it's quite quiet at night. For those accustomed to staying in hotels, this place may lack the standardized feel of commercial hotels, but adds a sense of home-like comfort.
The bathroom features a wet-dry separation design, paired with retro green tiles and fresh small plants for decoration, kept spotlessly clean, which enhances the overall accommodation experience and adds a sense of warmth and reassurance to the Hualien journey.
In response to environmental protection and plastic reduction regulations, the homestay does not provide disposable toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, combs, and shower caps). When coming here for vacation, remember to pack your own toiletry bag!
Additionally, bottled water is not provided in the room, but purified water dispensers are thoughtfully placed in the stairwell. Guests can simply bring their room cup or personal thermos to fill water anytime upstairs—convenient, eco-friendly, with both hot and cold water available, very handy!
The room allows for comfortable sleep, and the next day's breakfast is also a major highlight of this stay!
The breakfast at Breathe Homestay is not only rich and healthy, but also thoughtfully arranged and paired. Just the fruits served on the wooden tray include over ten different kinds of fresh fruits. The ingredients are carefully selected by the homestay owner, allowing one to eat with peace of mind and satisfaction.
The main course includes perfectly toasted thick-sliced bread with two-color spreads, a plump handmade five-grain rice ball, a small cup of yogurt, plus soy milk and coffee, making the nutrition very balanced.
Particularly worth mentioning is the soft-boiled egg in the breakfast. It's not just casually dropped into boiling water to cook, but made by slowly heating from cold water to boiling. Just this extremely time-consuming detail reflects the homestay owner's insistence and attention to ingredient doneness and texture.
Even more adorable is that the owner thoughtfully prepared four different egg crackers for each guest! Choosing your favorite tool at the table and gently "ding" to crack the shell adds a little surprise fun and ritual to the morning with this daily detail.
During the meal, the lobby TV plays Hualien travel videos personally filmed and edited by the homestay owner. Watching the magnificent Taroko, the blue Pacific Ocean, and the natural and cultural beauty of local Hualien on screen, we savored the warm handmade dishes one bite at a time in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Throughout, the homestay owner also carefully shares the stories behind the video and enthusiastically explains the hidden attractions and local delicacies worth visiting in Hualien. This interaction makes the entire dining process more vivid and warm, no longer just a cold accommodation, but like visiting an old friend's home living in Hualien.
This stay at Breathe Homestay, from the adorable cats and dogs, comfortable room, to the sincere breakfast, every detail allows one to feel the homestay owner's thoughtfulness.
