I was so shocked I wanted to scream a hundred times on the spot! Who would have thought that in the B1 floor of Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, there’s a hidden paradise for mini pigs?! The little piggies at mipig+cafe aren’t just adorable beyond reason—they’re also super gentle and friendly. They’ll come up to nuzzle you and even lie on your lap to sleep, melting your heart into a puddle!
mipig+cafe is about a 9-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station. Sunshine City itself is a major landmark, and mipig+cafe is located on the first basement floor, making it very easy to find!
The eye-catching storefront leaves a strong impression, and there’s even a price list at the entrance for adopting these mini pigs—each one is adorable.
To protect these adorable mini pigs from African swine fever, the store has special requirements.
Please visit only on the 3rd day after arriving in Japan. Entry is restricted for the first 2 days to protect the pigs’ health.

Upon entering the cafe, the first thing you see is a series of clean and comfortable spaces with small seating areas. Everyone sits on the floor to make it easier for the piglets to interact. There are also several fluffy, round little figures running around or lying lazily inside. Staff will first guide you to change into indoor slippers and disinfect your hands to ensure hygiene. Then, they will gently explain the rules for interacting with the mini pigs, such as not making loud noises, not chasing them, and not forcibly picking them up—everything prioritizes the comfort and safety of the piglets.

Then, here’s the highlight! When Dong and William were led to the seating area, the staff helped place a blanket on their laps, and a pink, petite mini pig waddled over to us! It first gently touched my leg with its moist little snout, then rested its head on my thigh, climbed onto my lap, lay down, closed its eyes, and started dozing off! So adorable! How can they be so gentle, so friendly, and so good at acting spoiled?!
Each mini pig has its own unique personality. Some are more lively and explore everywhere; others are shyer and observe humans from the corner. But most of them love interacting with people. They’ll actively approach you, nuzzle your hand, headbutt you, jump onto your lap, make cute sounds, and some even argue over attention!
These mini pigs are also very well cared for and clean! There’s no odor like we might imagine, and although their fur is coarse, it’s very clean. The interaction process is truly simple and stress-free—you don’t need to do anything special to attract the piglets. Just sit quietly, and they’ll come to you on their own, entering your world and letting you feel their sincere, quiet gentleness. This “cute, gentle, and friendly mini pig” experience will leave you feeling calm and relaxed, soothing your entire mood.
Taking photos with them is so fun—they stay comfortably by your side without making noise or moving around, calming your mind. You can pat their head or their butt, and they’ll happily wag their tail in response. So cute.
Piglets of different colors and sizes are all friendly. No need to worry about danger—they’re even gentler than imagined.
In the bustling, crowded Tokyo, you can still enjoy such a relaxing and slow-paced experience. At mipig+cafe, I got a full rest—not just physically, but more importantly, a soothing for the soul. It was very peaceful and elegant, even more than expected! Highly recommended to plan such an itinerary.
