In addition to its many unique attractions and local delicacies, Yilan's dessert shops are also a highlight. During this trip to Yilan, we first enjoyed oven-roasted chicken at Yuanshan Song San Ji. After filling up, we naturally looked for a dessert to satisfy another craving, so we headed to the popular "Yue Sui Xiang Handmade Desserts" in Yilan's Luodong to buy a cake.
The Luodong branch is tucked away at the corner of Tiyu Road in Luodong Town. Its warm cream-colored exterior paired with large, bright transparent glass windows gives it a fresh and textured look on the quaint street.

This branch mainly focuses on takeout, but the shop has set up two elegant round high tables on the outdoor side. This wall with a subtle Japanese minimalist style is perfect for taking photos after buying cake. If you can't wait to try it on the spot, you can sit down and enjoy the sweet flavors at your leisure.
Our visit happened to be the week before Mother's Day, so the festive atmosphere was incredibly lively right at the entrance! Crowds lined up inside and outside for takeout, with many people choosing the sweetest holiday surprise for their moms.
Through the large cake display case, you could see several exquisite and eye-catching large cakes specially made for Mother's Day, adorned with pink petals and hearts that make you want to grab one right away to bring home for Mom.
We came for sliced cakes, but unfortunately arrived a bit late, and with the holiday rush, many flavors in the sliced cake case had already sold out.
Still, the remaining chiffon cakes, strawberry slices, blueberry-filled tarts, and various delicate pastries left us hesitating at the counter with decision paralysis—every single one looked delicious!
After some deliberation, we finally chose two slices from the Japanese chiffon series. The packaging also has a nice quality feel.
Yuzu and Four Seasons Spring
A perfect blend of tea and fruit aromas! The top layer is a crystal-clear osmanthus jelly with elegant floral notes. The middle Japanese chiffon cake is dense yet soft, layered with smooth mascarpone, rich Four Seasons Spring custard, and yuzu mousse.
One bite brings the steady tea aroma unique to Four Seasons Spring tea, clashing with the refreshing slight acidity of yuzu on the tongue. The milky, tea, and fruity notes achieve perfect balance with incredibly rich texture layers!
Between Cocoa and Banana
A classic waltz of rich bitterness and sweetness! Made with dense yet fluffy chiffon cake, 72% chocolate mousse, and silky chocolate Chantilly cream.
The filling is aged sweet banana custard, topped with walnuts carrying a unique roasted aroma and fresh banana. The slight bitterness of chocolate intertwines with the ripe sweetness of banana, offering distinct texture layers that are dense yet not overly sweet.
Yue Sui Xiang's Japanese chiffon cakes, whether in the delicacy of the cake base or the overall balance of the fillings, convey the warmth and care of handmade craftsmanship.
Next time you visit Yilan Luodong, after enjoying a meal, consider stopping by to take away a few delicious cake slices to add a sweet touch to your trip!
