The store name "Weichang" has a very heartwarming story behind it.
Founder Hong Shixian returned to her hometown to learn dessert making. Every time she finished a dessert, she would first let her grandma taste it. Inspired by her grandma's name "Wei," she named it 「Weichang Dessert Cafe」.
Starting from desserts and later opening a cafe, the focus on family and life continues. They hope to offer healthy, reduced-sugar, fresh and light desserts, allowing everyone to slowly enjoy a dessert and drink in a leisurely afternoon.
This store name makes "Weichang" more than just a cafe name—it carries the warmth of family.
Weichang Dessert Cafe's indoor space features a warm off-white color scheme, paired with light wood-grain flooring and wooden tables and chairs, creating an overall soft visual feel.
The seating arrangement inside is not overly crowded. Round tables and wooden chairs combined with minimalist lighting fixtures create a bright and relaxing atmosphere.
There are also two tables with sofa seating. The gray sofas paired with green throw pillows add a touch of light luxury and Nordic modern style.
If you enjoy sitting quietly with a cup of coffee and a dessert, this environment is also quite suitable.
There are some basic rules for dining in the store. You may want to note them before visiting:
Overall, Weichang's dining rules are clear and retain the flexibility of no time limit. However, during holidays or peak hours with waiting, please follow on-site conditions.
At Weichang Dessert Cafe, the dessert display is also worth checking out.
The glass dessert case displays various handmade desserts and chiffon cakes, each clearly labeled with name and price.
From fruit chiffon and tea-scented chiffon to cakes paired with different fruits and creams, you can choose according to the items available in the case that day.
Dessert varieties depend on daily production and on-site availability, so if you have a specific flavor in mind, it's best to confirm after arriving.
This time I ordered a Red Guava Americano.
Weichang's Red Guava Americano is made by blending red guava puree into an Americano coffee. It has a noticeably thicker texture, quite different from the usual light and refreshing Americano.
The first sip brings the fruity aroma and slight acidity of red guava, followed by the subtle bitterness of the coffee itself. The two flavors blend together, creating a surprisingly unique character.
For me, this is a very special fruit coffee.
If you enjoy trying different flavors in your coffee, you might want to try this combination of fruit and coffee.
For dessert, I chose the Red Oolong Cherry Chiffon Cake.
The cross-section of the cake reveals layers of soft red oolong chiffon, with smooth cream and cherries in between, giving it a nice layered appearance.
The first bite brings the distinctive tea aroma of red oolong, not too overpowering, paired with the sweet-tart cherry and the smooth texture of the cream, adding a bit of complexity to the overall flavor.
I personally quite like this combination of tea aroma with fruit—it doesn't just taste purely sweet, but lets you experience the layers between tea, fruit acidity, and cream.
