Japanese countryside set meal after the boat tour~~Oboke Gorge Mannaka Restaurant

Our lunch was enjoyed at Oboke Gorge Mannaka Restaurant located above the sightseeing boat boarding area, and we could start eating right away upon arrival.

Next to large glass windows, you can enjoy the beautiful gorge scenery of Oboke while savoring local specialty dishes—a double treat for both mouth and eyes.

Before we arrived, the restaurant staff had already prepared the meals, with one Japanese set meal per person.

It looks so abundant and delicious.

One of their signature dishes, Iya soba noodles—traditional hand-made soba, also a local specialty.

Must-try salt-grilled sweetfish, freshly grilled from Yoshino River fish; be careful of the bones. The nine-grid platter also includes shrimp, fried chicken, mochi, mashed potatoes, lettuce, cucumber… I really like the variety of small portions.

There’s also a small hot pot with shrimp, scallops, meat slices, and tofu—my favorite seafood hot pot.

On the table, they also brought two jars of soba furikake and wasabi furikake for us to try; sprinkle on white rice to season. The flavors are quite good—the wasabi one is my favorite, with a mildly spicy and savory taste. After enjoying it, you can buy it at the souvenir shop; many people bought two cans to take home. I bought one can of the wasabi furikake—the tasting offer is really effective.
