Located in Caotun Township, Nantou County, Dunhe Palace is a temple with a long history and prosperous incense, with profound religious and cultural significance. It originated in the first year of Jiaqing (1816 AD) and has been over two hundred years, being an important faith center in the area, mainly worshiping Xuantan Zhenjun.
Dunhe Palace is most praised and is its most distinctive landmark, none other than the magnificent copper-cast Zhao Tianjun God of Wealth statue standing on the top of the seventh floor of the temple. This statue is as high as 162 Taiwanese feet, with its grand momentum and exquisite craftsmanship, becoming the 'largest copper statue of the Martial God of Wealth in the world', attracting countless believers to come and pay respects and pray for blessings.
For believers visiting Dunhe Palace for the first time, if they are unfamiliar with the worship process, the temple has detailed worship guides and floor introductions in the surrounding facilities, guiding believers to smoothly complete the prayer rituals. The worship route adopted is 'one incense per furnace', guiding believers to visit the deities on each floor in sequence, feeling different blessings and protections. The main worship floors cover the first, third, fifth, and seventh floors.
On the first floor of Dunhe Palace, there is a 'temple prayer card' service, where believers can make a free donation according to 'voluntary merit', fill out the prayer card, and then take it to the front of the seventh-floor God of Wealth statue to make wishes and pray. This ritual symbolizes believers praying to the God of Wealth for wealth and good fortune, entrusting their wishes to the deity, hoping for a prosperous new year.
For believers who need to replenish their wealth treasury or borrow wealth money, Caotun Dunhe Palace also provides related services. If there are any unclear details about the specific processes, you can always ask the temple staff, who will sincerely answer for you, provide necessary assistance and guidance, helping believers more fully complete the prayer or wealth replenishment rituals.
The rooftop Zhao Tianjun Martial God of Wealth copper statue is made with fine copper casting craftsmanship, appearing solemn and majestic. The God of Wealth statue holds a gold bead in the left hand, symbolizing attracting wealth and treasures; the right hand holds a gold whip, representing control of authority and warding off evil. Under the left foot of the statue, there is a divine tiger symbolizing power and wealth, adding dynamism and might to the statue. Coming to the seventh floor, besides devoutly gazing at the sacred image and receiving the God of Wealth's blessings, don't forget to take a photo with this huge God of Wealth statue as a memento, which is not only a rare opportunity but also implies bringing wealth and good luck home, ushering in good fortune for the whole year.
The temple rooftop thoughtfully has two rest pavilions, where believers can take a short rest after worship, enjoy the cool breeze and scenery, and also take in the panoramic view from the high vantage point, overlooking the street scenes of Caotun Township, feeling a sense of tranquility and openness.
