Located next to 雲林縣褒忠鄉馬鳴山鎮安宮 is the "五年千歲公園", a very special temple-themed park.
The park features high mountain stone forests, strange rocks, stone cave tunnels, lakes, bridges, and various deity sculptures, creating a maze-like tour route. The entire park has 73 distinctive attractions, and visitors can follow the numbered signs in the park to explore each spot in sequence.
Along the way, you'll find not only caves, stone bridges, waterfalls, and ponds, but also Guanyin Bodhisattva, Maitreya Buddha, immortal statues, and many uniquely shaped stone carvings, giving it a real sense of adventure.
Completing all 73 attractions takes about 90 minutes, but the park also has shortcuts to the exit midway, so if you get tired halfway, you don't have to push through—you can choose to leave early.
The most interesting part of 五年千歲公園 is that the park uses attractions 1 to 73 as directional guides. Starting from the entrance and following the numbers all the way to number 73 completes the entire maze adventure through 五年千歲公園.
Many routes in the park intersect up and down, so as you walk, you often get the feeling of "Haven't I been here before?" which adds to the fun of the maze adventure.
Attraction No. 5 at 五年千歲公園 is the Release Pond. By the pond, you can see sculptures of Guanyin Bodhisattva, Sudhana, and the Dragon Girl, along with the pond water and surrounding greenery, creating a tranquil atmosphere compared to the park's other more fantastical stone forest landscapes.
Attraction No. 15 is the Immortals Cave. This area uses artificially stacked boulders to create winding tunnels. Inside the cave, you can see statues of various immortals and stellar deities.
Attraction No. 19 is the Observation Deck. Climbing the stairs to a higher position offers a view overlooking part of the 五年千歲公園 landscape.
From above, you can better appreciate the park's rich landscaping, with lakes, trees, stone forests, and bridges interwoven, creating a strong sense of depth.
Attraction No. 21, Lingzhi Pavilion, is one of the park's most distinctive features. It features giant mushroom and lingzhi shapes combined with stone bridges and rockery water scenes, giving it a fantastical overall style.
Walking through it evokes forest scenes from fairy tales and makes it a popular photo spot in 五年千歲公園.
Attraction No. 22 is the Magpie Bridge, incorporating the mythological imagery of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, and is also a great spot for photos in the park.
Near No. 28, if you're starting to feel a bit exhausted, keep an eye on the park's route signs. If you don't plan to complete all 73 attractions, you can follow the signs to choose a shortcut to the route near No. 68 and continue toward the exit.
So although 五年千歲公園 has 73 attractions, you don't have to force yourself to complete the entire route—you can decide based on your own stamina.
Attraction No. 31 is the Water Curtain Cave. Inspired by the Water Curtain Cave from Journey to the West's Flower Fruit Mountain, it uses artificial rockeries, caves, and water features to create a mythical scene. Monkey statues around the rockery add to the Journey to the West atmosphere.
Attraction No. 43 is Malong Mountain. This is a tall artificial hill, with a prominent golden divine beast statue "Malong" at the top, shaped as a dragon-headed horse body.
Reaching the higher position requires climbing another flight of stairs, but standing high up offers a wider view. On a clear day, you can even see the surrounding countryside scenery.
Attraction No. 51 is Banyan Tree Lane. Unlike the earlier areas filled with giant stone carvings, this spot's main feature is the dense banyan trees and greenery. The trees form a natural green corridor, and walking under the shade creates a very different atmosphere from the open landscapes in the front of the park.
Attraction No. 53 is the Moon-Watching Pavilion. The pavilion features a wood-like design with rugged wood-grain pillars and railings, paired with a thick roof, giving it a very distinctive overall look. Its double-tiered design also makes the Moon-Watching Pavilion easy to spot in the park.
Attraction No. 55 is the Dragon Cave. 五年千歲公園 features many caves, mountain walls, and passages made from strange rocks, and the Dragon Cave is one such distinctive landscape.
One of the park's biggest highlights is blending caves, stone forests, water features, and deity sculptures together, so each area has a slightly different scenery as you walk through.
Attraction No. 60 is a very eye-catching landmark in 五年千歲公園—the Sky-High Bridge. The colorful rainbow arch bridge spans between the park's ponds and stone forests, with a noticeable slope, visible from afar.
The colorful bridge paired with blue skies, green trees, and gray-white strange rock formations is rich in color and one of the most popular photo spots in 五年千歲公園.
Reaching the later section at No. 71, you'll encounter the Nine Dragon Boat Tunnel. This area has an underground tunnel where visitors can follow the path underground and head toward the Nine Dragon Boat in the middle of the pond.
五年千歲公園 has many stone caves, tunnels, and undulating routes, and by this point, you can feel the entire maze route coming to an end. Continuing forward, you'll nearly complete this 73-attractions journey.
